Gyms/Fitness Clubs in Jomtien Beach

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I'm moving to Jomtien Beach shortly and want to find a nice place to work out.

Our place is on the beach side and I don't want to have to drive far to get there.

Currently I'm at We Fitness. I like it, but I don't need anything quite that plush. My requirements are:

  • Good weight, modern equipment
  • Air conditioning that works
  • Cardio equipment
  • Clean

Thanks in advance!

Bruce

Run on the beach and swim in the ocean [emoji474]

Gee, thanks for the suggestion.

Now since my legs won't allow me to run and I don't like to swim, it probably won't work.

Anyone?

I saw this new place on FaceBook yesterday, Primal Fitness. It is on the baht bus route from Jomtien. I go a few soi's over at Refresh Gym but it is not Air conditioned.

Where is the "We Fitness" gym that's too plush for you?

I would consider any gym in Pattaya with air conditioning that works and with modern equipment, and clean, a plush gym, but I've never found any.

There are a few "plush" hotel gyms charging over 30K per year, but they are a bit under-equipped for most serious gym buffs.

I didn't say it's "too plush". Those are your words.

And yes, no hotel gyms, which tend to be small and under equipped.

There's an air-Conditioned gym up Soi Wat Boon (think it may be this Bear gym mentioned earlier).

The only other gym I can think of (no AC), is at Rhompo Market and is very popular in the evenings.

If you're going to be staying in a Condo when you move, then it may have an AC gym.

Ours has and I should try using it.

So, plushness aside, where is it?

Don't LIKE to swim and you live near ocean ? That's a shame [emoji474]

You said: "I like it, but I don't need anything quite that plush." (in reference to We Fitness)

Which means "too plush" for your requirements.

Please tell us where it is. Many of us are looking for plush gyms and are tired of slumming at gyms such as Tony's.

Could that be the new Fitness7  Gym at the Avenue?

Looks like a chain in BKK

Yeah, maybe he's moving from Bangkok, and he needs a less plush gym in Jomtien. He certainly doesn't have to worry about any gym in Jomtien or anywhere else in Pattaya being too plush.

There is no decent gym in Jomtien.  No malls, decent markets, movies, Gogo's or massage rooms that do not smell bad.

Move to Pattaya and your quality of life will improve.

Thanks but we have a house.

Sure. But there are a lot of deluxe gyms in Bangkok

Sukhumvit and Ekamai in the Major Center upstairs.

OK, so you're moving from Bangkok - thanks for clearing that up.

You won't have to worry about any gym being too plush in Pattaya and certainly not in Jomtien - there aren't any here other than some small hotel gyms in 5-star hotels. After a few weeks you'll be missing your plush Bangkok gym like crazy.

I used to workout at Tony's gym in Jomtien just off 2nd Road. If you want to see the opposite of plush, go and check it out. The Bear gym that some are recommending is not plush either but a bit more plush than Tony's.

I'm not "worried" about anything being too plush. I'm willing to accept less in Jomtien. It's a nice tradeoff for the lifestyle, despite what was stated by one person above.

Pattaya is close enough to access whatever you want of it, without having to live there, which I don't wish to. Maybe being around it more now I'll change my mind, but I don't think so.

As for Tony's, I hear there isn't AC. I also hear he's building a really big, nice one in Pattaya at the mall. But it will be a bit too far to go to work out daily.

There was AC at the Tony's Jomtien Gym last time I trained there back in 2013 but they were really stingy about turning it on. The false believe that Thais hold - that the more you sweat the better your workout, doesn't help much. A lot of foreigners believe this too.

Ugh! Stupid concept. Sweat is great, but to a point.

Quality of (fast) life may go up but quality of people goes way down.

It all depends on what you value. If the quality of gym goes down, then my quality of life follows... that's why I took matters into my own hands and set up a decent home gym.

If the OP lives in a house, that's a good option.

Really?

I love a good sweat many benefits.

In Thailand it's not a case of trying not to sweat, but keeping it under control and not burning out due to overheating. i.e. Damp clothes when workout is finished, not dripping wet.

I air-condition my workout space to 26C and use fans. I still sweat, but from intense exercise and not heat. It's easy enough to sweat here without doing anything.
