Bentonite for lake/pond lining

Recommended Posts

Posted

Does anyone have any information about using bentonite to line a pond or lake. As I understand it, bentonite is good to mix with sand (ratio: about 10% bentonite to 90% sand) and then use the mixture of sand and bentonite to line and seal your pond and the benefits are twofold:-

1. It lines the pond to stop leakages.

2. It stops the fish stirring up the bottom with natural sedimentary clay which is virtually impossible to filter or remove and so you get really turbid and murky water permanently.

I would also like to know where to buy bentonite by the ton. Isaan area preferred but I will truck it from BKK if necessary.

Thanks.

There was a previous thread about "Bentonite" that should be helpful?  Not so sure you want to mix with sand though?
