looking for skillful workers

Recommended Posts

Dear Friends,

Need assistance in the assembly and installation of furniture in the apartment in Pattaya.

All furniture imported, was ordered and delivered from Italy and Germany. It is not difficult to assemble, but careful and technical and aesthetic understanding of the process is required ... therefore, all attempts to do this with the help of local masters lead to a deplorable result ... and increased arterial pressure .  Maybe someone knows skilful workers?

I will be very glad to have information to resolve my problem.

You do know that you are in Thailand?

I could do it ..but unfortunately would need a work permit. Pretty sure carpentry and furniture making is in the restricted occupation list..maybe some creative job title "master assembly technician" would fool the labour office into a permit ?

Trying to be serious if you know someone where are or a neighbour ask around for a carpenter, Pattaya must have a few at least.

Thank you all for the effort and your comments. We are ready to employ workers from all over Thailand and pay for the accommodation if necessary. We also provide the assistance and even help with our own hands. The main thing is to have good communication, understanding and skills.

There (used to be but probably still there)  a  few furniture manufacturers along the Theprasit road  they maybe willing to send "someone"

to help assembly...maybe the biggest problem  is the language barrier to try and stress to them the importance of

" careful and technical and aesthetic understanding of the process is required "

its difficult to find skilful workers in all trades as anyone can say they can do it ( like "Yosser Hughes" )

and you cant publish bad reviews without the risk of a law suit   so the good skilled workers get snapped up with lots of work to do only leaving the "Yossers"

BTW @Boris G  thanks for the private message  but I like to try and keep my blood pressure low too.

just how many apartments need furnishing   sounds like you need lots of workers ?

The department of labour should be able to point you to some workers with experience and there is a labour exchange near the Tonys Gym on South Pattaya road.

I need help in my personal condo. Just couple of workers or even one with my personal help. Got a huge TV 80" (EdNotam) with complicated glass attachment to the wall and kitchen Boffi that must be installed strictly according to the manual provided. It may sound simple and easy but unable to do it on my own.

Already checked all the local companies and was unable to find the workers who can help. Those that were offered accidentally damage some the furniture and unable to follow the simple manual menu provided...

For the TV installation  maybe try Namchai electrics   they have 2 stores in the Pattaya area

for the kitchen try Häfele Thailand  they have a store on sukhumvit opposite the Theprasit road  co located with True value

good luck.

Thai workers are probably in the top ten of the most unreliable in the world. Most have no enthusiasm in the jobs at hand and they work to suit themselves, not the other way around. They also become bored very quickly and can suddenly disappear without notice. Where I live many of the local businesses have a huge turnover of staff.

I would never consider running a business in Thailand, but good luck to you for giving it a shot and hope you can make this into a success.

They  will also  hit your  walls and  ceiling when they walk thru the house with ladders, leave dust and <deleted> everywhere ( never  have a vacuum cleaner) leave handprints  all over the wall etc etc and do a total bodge  job

i was  ready too for over 2  years.....gave up, had  plans  to build a lovely  house would have kept 3-4  guys  busy for at least 10  months and  wa s happy  to pay over the going rates by at least 25% but..........in vain, all the same   poor  work practices, badly  mixed concrete and generally lazy/ shortcuts in everything they did, example below which I made them take off and do properly before finally getting rid of them and doing ALL work myself.

The stupidest thing was all they really needed to do was take some care and  follow the way I showed them..........nope couldnt do it "we dont do it this  way"

Before after shots
