Basically I was wondering if i could get finance for buying a second hand car under these conditions:

- No work slip or income or any job.

-  25k baht coming into my account every month. (From my father in the western world)

- Thai co-signer who owns land and two houses, also with no income. (My mother)

- 200k downpayment on a 300-350k car.

With a budget of only 200k i found no car i was happy with, so I was wondering if i could get finance. Looking for a year under the finance. Money per month is not an issue as long as its under 10k.

Oh and I'm only 20 years old and a student if that changes anything and I dont have Thai citizenship.

First and foremost, go and apply for Thai citizenship. That will make your life here much easier, and will give you access to countless credit cards and other finance solutions ;)

But to do that you must have a job and pay taxes for starters, plus you don't want to hear the rest..

Think you are stuffed, give your bird the deposit dosh and go from there....:stoner:

His mom is Thai. That means he can get Thai citizenship. Several friends who have done it.

And for the rest of us, its not impossible either..

Thank you for all the answers all! I've got 300k now so I'll be able to buy without any financing at all thankfully!

On the citizenship thing, Yes I can apply for citizenship, however I'd prefer to do it at 30 so I wouldn't be drafted into the military. Should I need to owe anything here before that time I can use my mothers name.

If your father isn't Thai you won't be drafted.

My best mate got his Thai cit in his 20's, and never been drafted.

I'll be looking into that, thank you!

My main worry would of course be the Thailand's way of having different laws all over the country

I don't think that's the case, I'm not Thai and my Thai son is doing his army training at school and some army camp in his last couple of years of school in order to avoid being drafted.  He wouldn't choose that if he had an option!

So is my step-son, but that won't prevent him being drafted.

Yes it will if he completes the Reserve Officer training course, that's the point of doing it!
