I have used always the "Weber" brand grouting, they have many colors and special one for bathroom and kitchen. I bought them in Thai-watsadu. Have a look at the website of Weber grout.

I'm in the midst of a reno with lots of new tiles (ceiling and floor) being done and I asked the contractor for feedback about different types of grout.  He said they were going to use Crocodile brand; that it's a USA product.  Any feedback about Crocodile brand?

you will find crocodile is the most common brand in Thai usage because its cheaper than Weber.

but its only for initial substrate- the adhesive, its not grout so dont go there.

possibly a misunderstanding between you and the builder of what is adhesive and grout.

The two top brands used here are Weber and Davco

In my opinion both are equal, though Davco a bit cheaper (say 17bt/kg v 21bt/kg)

I have used different brands because one may not do cement grey or charcoal black  for example

There are noddy brands out there which are cheap because they have no mould resisting properties, no waterproof properties and probably cant even guarantee the colour thats in the bag

stick to those top two

My wife was a demon cleaner of grout with a "bathroom cleaning solution" containing 22% hydrochloric acid the grout stood no chance at all, I re grouted using 100% cement mixed with water proofing solution in lieu of water seems to be holding up well but is grey.

Every building site had gallons of hydrochloric acid, about the same strength maybe more and it is used for cleaning solid mortar splashes from facing bricks, or cleaning pavings and even cleaning trowels and spades where connie was left on.

dangerous stuff, goggles and gloves.

they sell the same stuff here with a fancy label and call it "granite spa clean" or "deck cleaner " or "tile polisher" and charge 400bt for half a litre bottle.

a bit surprised you used powdered cement?? i would have thought it shrinks and cracks very easily.; hence  proper grout has flexible and shrink additives.

Just ordinary cement,  I mixed just enough water proofing solution to get it to a nice consistency. Then spread it into the gaps with my bestest pointing finger (yes I did get pointers finger)

no problem with shrinkage or cracking yet..I gave my wife very clear instructions not to use the hydrochloric acid toilet cleaner on the tiles....and now the bathroom cleaning duties are 90% mine ...:shock1: :post-4641-1156693976:  another "no good deed goes unpunished"

I have just used this brand and it does say on the packet 'Fast setting polymer modified cement grout'. Once mixed i found it easy to apply and clean up.

Oh well sounds like thats another option then.

If its in the same 20kg bags then there will be enough to do 3 houses.

For trade use it seems.....and as long as you like cement grey (which i do actually)

It comes in 1 kg bags same as the other brands and is available in many different colours (30 plus). It's widely available and the price is near enough the same as the Weber grout.
