Went to renew the tax in my 2012 CBR250 today and was told need to go and check at one of the private testing centres if

bike over 5yo and need to do every year. Is this correct?

Also enquired about what the compulsary insurance was for. I was told to cover me up to 80k THB medical in the event of an

accident or 300k THB in the event I die. Is that correct? Firstly I thought the insurance was for a third party ie: someone I hit or injure

and I saw on this forum somewhere before the insurance doesn't cover farang anyway, only Thais

If you have a Thai drivers licence the insurance will cover you...not sure about foreign licence holders.

Don't believe everything you read from people on forums.

It's the actual car, truck, motorbike, moped, scoot.that is insured by compulsory gov insurance any driver or passenger is cover by the 3rd party cover in a way.

That's why many falangies get extra cover by way of 1st, 2nd, 3rd insurance cover.

This how l understand it maybe @stevenlcan chip in.

Correct, the compulsory 3rd party insurance is very limited and only for medical expenses or death. Requirement is legal, so either Thai license (if resident here) or as a tourist a foreign license is ok, provided for a bike it is a full license, not an endorsement.
