Hi folks, I wonder if someone can offer a solution to this little problem of mine? I've always had a little phone spam, usually just a few text messages a day. It's a bit of a pain but nothing that's really bothered me much—until now! In recent months the phone SPAM has got out of control and seems to be gathering momentum.  Not only have the number of daily text messages tripled, but now they're coming in really late or ridiculously early.

IS THIS LEGAL?

It's not unusual to get a spam text at 10:30 at night, and later on occasions.  I've even had one at 4:20 am last week which really annoyed me. And if that's not bad enough, I'm now getting spam prerecorded phone calls every so often. The second I answer these calls there's some woman shrieking sales spiel down the line at the top of her lungs, hardly pausing for breath. And now TRUE TV has joined the spam bandwagon, with a bunch of TV updates and package promotions sent out daily.

Surely this can't be legal, and who passes my phone number on to the spammers? I'm getting to the point now where I might have to change my number, unless there's way to put a stop to this nonsense—hence this message.

Thanks in advance,

I assume your mobile provider is TRUE?

For AIS I could describe you how to stop spamming SMS and calls via internet eService.

I guess that for TRUE it should be possible via the hotline.

Yes KhunBENQ, it's TRUE. Not sure who's sending the spam though, but it's has many different numbers :(

SMS spam is one more reason I changed to AIS. After changing, I started getting spam, so I called AIS and requested that I didn't want ANY spam messages through their system. It took two call requests but the spam stopped. I was a little concerned that SMS messages from my friends would also be blocked, but those messages still come through.

I hope some member can give advice for TRUE.

Me too, otherwise it's the inconvenient route of changing the number. I've had five already this morning, the first one came in at 7:36 am :(

Can you not take the phone to a true outlet and ask them to stop the spam?

Sent from my SM-G935F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Yes, I was thinking of doing that next time I go to pay my TV bill. I'm not sure what they could do though as this isn't a single spammer with the same number. There's no harm in asking though.

I might downgrade my TV package while I'm there as well. There's far too much censor blurring dotted all over the screen and regular interruptions to programs since the update. Heck, it can take well over two hours to watch a 90 minute movie now. I'm not a happy TRUE customer at the moment!

Can you share any details?

Are you prepaid or post-paid?

SMS: what number are these messages showing? what is the content? how many messages from each? per day?

robo-calls: how many per day? what number is displayed? all from the same number/company? Personally I do not answer calls from numbers which I do not recognize.

TrueMove H may be able to help, but suspect your number found it's way into a pool which was then offered to marketeers.

You may have to contact each entity directly and ask to eb removed from their list.

I have multiple SIMs from all three providers and honesttly can't recall the last time I got an unsolicited call or SMS, maybe ~ 8 years?

To be honest I haven't been analyzing the calls. They're annoying enough as it is, without taking time out to scrutinize them. I usually delete the buggers as they come in. But maybe I will need to keep a record for a few days if I'm to put in a formal complaint. I don't even use the phone all that much, so it's a mystery as to why I've ended up with so much SPAM. Perhaps my number has been harvested from someone else's phone contacts, but I couldn't possibly know.

I wondered about the few spam messages I got for a while until I wondered if I was somehow getting charged for them ... and inquired at AIS Serenade to have the messages explained and stopped. They explained they could stop them and did some magic behind their laptop and then it was fixed.

The next week it started again, so I went back and this time stood my ground asking for a detailed explanation where they were coming from.

Turns out it was AIS that was sending me the spam. And after that inquiry they stopped them.

BUT, every once in a while I get one, random spam in the messages, always at 10:30 am or 1:30 pm, on the dot.

Just go to the True shop. They can block this and it´s up to you to tell them. If not they think you accept and continue send. It´s not illegal because they put a clause in the contract rules and regulations that they might share your information with trustworth associtates. That is also why they can stop it coming disregarding if it´s from many different places and numbers. Easy like 1 2 3!

Yes my friend was recently complaining about True spamming... I wish they put as much effort into keeping the internet working!

As for late night...most phones have a sleep mode in settings.  You can set a specific time period, like from midnight to 7am where no calls or messages come through.  You usually have the option to whitelist certain numbers that you don't want blocked.

They send you SMS texts?  Wow, you must be special.
