Not complaining about "not" being able to own anything.  I'm stating that I refused to OWN anything.  I rented everything once I realized that even the women weren't worth OWNING.  Most are for RENT.  Now, I'm gone but I've got things to say about my wasted 3 years.  And please, learn to use whole words.  Your grammar is childish.

All he is trying to say is the laws here forbid him to own his own home outright and other laws make it hard to hold onto what you buy as others can take it away from you. just about every Expat agrees life is much harder here as laws and those who enforce them are racial. So right now he feels he has wasted 3 years of his life.

 

Having seen it close up myself I know how he feels. So I did get out and now life is great, it can be a bit cold but I am not bitten by those nasty things that hang out here on every street corner and I am not fried in the 40c and can have a shower as water is not in short supply.

 

Do give him a break please

Wrong. You can legally buy a house. You as a foreigner cannot buy land.

I just advised my friend not to move to Hua Hin, but move to Isan where is quiet with exception of a few roosters. He

thanked me and is planning on visiting next week.

None of us want to live in a nanny state until we need to live in a nanny state. And I would never even attempt to buy a house or more correctly land in a country that doesn't want me to. Having rented 2 years in Pattaya, 2 in Rawai and now 2 in Hua Hin. All my landlords have been good except for one in Rawai. The good landlords have been Thai the bad was an Italian.

This is a serious matter that will escalate into violence if police act & evict all party-goers & force owners /agents to stop noise pollution.

It was the same situation in our village Chaikhao Mountain Home Banbofai Hua Hin Soi 6 ...months on end 2 or 3 nights per week most times....unbearably loud music all Thai teenagers apparently high on drugs too. 

 

Noise pollution is illegal as is daily renting of homes but the problem is as always inept policing of theses laws.

 

In Pattaya about 8 yrs ago our village signed a petition against 3 karaoke bars that opened up outside our gates blasting out horrendous Thai music at top volume until 3 or 4 am every night. We had tried talking/reasoning with them -waste of time of course as got threatened in return -so finally we sent a deputation of 4 including my Thai wife as a translator to meet the Asst Sheriff along with petition signed by all residents [all in Thai ] .Unbelieveably it worked. We were informed that they "took noise pollution very seriously" -we were told to wait for a month or so to allow police to survey the situation & then we would get a written report back as to action taken & when.

 

After a month all 3 karaoke dens were shut down  & some went to prison-moral of the story if you work together in a legal,serious way & request an appointment with the local Sheriff & arrive neat & tidy with a Thai translator & signed petition along with a video /mob phone clip of the party they just might listen & act-it's worth a shot.

 

Apparently the agent who was organizing these parties -the 1 yr contract with the Farang/Thai owners of the property concerned ended after New Year & peace has returned to our village -but for how long?

noise pollution means nothing to thais; one told me that 'noise is a sign of life'; (yes, stupid life)
