Not sure where to post, I did go down the list.

On my smartphone not a tech smart,  a friend want me to download WeChat,  I go to the icon and to sign up, next to Region I got Thailand. I put in my phone number after click sign up, it indicates that I will get a code in SMS, but nothing, I get a Icon a few hours later but when I go to the SMS nothing,  I request it over and over,  request by phone nothing.  Then I tried email, put in my email and get a message can't due to my location.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

This is purely a guess, but you probably know Wechat is a Chinese app, when you enter your phone number, how are you doing it. Have you tried  00 66 1234567 etc, most countries for international phone use + but China uses 00

Not being tech smart make sure you apply the correct permissions on what you want to be visible via wechat on your profile and your posts.

It is likely you are getting the country code part messed up a little. If it gives you Thailand as a choice for your number they probably already include the 66 prefix and all you need to do is fill in your number. Try it with and without the 0 at the start of your number.

If that doesn't work, type in the 66 eliminate the 0 at the start of your number and then add the rest. That gives you three variations.

"Some" apps can intercept the one-time-passcode sent via SMS automatically, while others will require you manually enter the received code from the SMS yourself.

And hopefully your phone is using a Thai-based number, and not roaming from another country.

Yes, when I try to sign up at the beginning, it does show the 66 or the right shows Thailand,

I did it as you noted to me, first without the 0, then I did the 66 number without the 0 and both times still no code sent SMS.

My number is a Thai base number from AIS

Typically the app knows what country your SIM is associated with, and that seems to be working as you're seeing 66. Normally you would add your AIS number, dropping the leading zero.

The WeChat OTP SMS system may not be working, or it may not be able to originate SMSes to Thailand, or maybe you entered your number incorrectly.

It seems like a few people in Thailand are using WeChat, primarily those with contacts in China.

OP, did you agree to all the app permission requests?

I just downloaded the app from the play store and did a signup over WiFi. Provided fake name with real AIS phone number and received an auth code via SMS right away.

...so unless you have some strange SMS blocking on your AIS account the signup process should work in Thailand.

Signing up using WiFI, I can't even get pass the part after the phone number, I've done it what seems like a million times, so I know I've enter the number correctly.

Have no idea if my SMS is blocked from AIS, since I have no problem getting all the SMS message ads from them?

I enter my number, it says on the bottom, you code is being sent in 27 second, counting down. I wait for the SMS, and nothing request it again same result.

Now after a hour or so, and throughout the day I can a notice ring on my phone, there is a small Icon of WeChat on the top of my phone, I press the Icon and it says " your code is being sent to your phone " I wait nothing again and again.

Today, a friend and I watched him, sign up, AIS Thai number like myself. He enter his number after the 66, thereafter he gets his code.

Something not right think it is my phone?

I'm thinking either the WeChat app is

- being blocked from sending the request,

- tencent is blocking your number from being registered, or

- the request is going through and AIS is blocking it from being delivered to your phone

A quick test might be to put your SIM into your friend's phone and try registering your number ...at least you'd know if it has something to do with your phone.

When I did a test using my own phone the WeChat app asked me to accept a lot of permissions.  I'm guessing the app or the phone security is blocking the app from making the signup request,  Maybe delete, reboot, and download again.
