June 2, 20178 yr My kitchen sink [ TEKA ] is about 1 yr old. I assumed it was made of stainless steel but it is now showing rust stains. The can be rubbed off but they reappear. How to best get rid of them? Thanks
June 2, 20178 yr Many differing grades and quality of stainless steel, you can rub it down or polish it then apply a clear laquer to seal it.This may not be an optimum solution if its on your sink and has constant knocks though, maybe a few coats on top of each other to give it a bit more protection. There are laquers made specifically for stainless but not sure where to source them in Thailand to be honestSent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

June 2, 20178 yr Spray WD40 over the rust and after a few minutes polish it off....Low quality sink, is the biggest problem here, by the looks.
June 2, 20178 yr I have a teka sink and although its only been in use 7 months there is thankfully no sign of rust. however the dummy taphole which is filled by a plug at the front is not stainless like the sink, its seems to be chrome plated and already mine is flaking off at the edges. But to make a point every brand name has varying degrees of quality so to say all teka are a cheap quality is unfair.....I mean you wouldn't say all Skoda cars are crap would you ok maybe you would.
June 3, 20178 yr Author Thanks for the tips - I'll try the WD40 now and probably down the road a bit just replace the sink with a better quality one.
June 3, 20178 yr If the OP bought a genuine Teka sink from a teka dealer he should have a copy of the 75 year warranty in Thai and English. I own several Teka stainless steel sinks and never have had any rust. No rust on from Franke sink either. Teka service comes from Roi Et. They have service people in Bangkok who understand and speak English. Teka "Linea' is a 2nd less expensive line for Teka and I do not own that series. If the OP gets the run around from where he bought his Teka sink he can PM me as I saved the phone and e-mail of the MD of Teka Thailand and the head of service and installation of Teka Thailand. I've had excellent service from Teka which I bought in Buriram at several authorized Teka dealers.
June 3, 20178 yr It is worth polishing out the rust with Scotchbrite. Rust on SS is often caused by metallic particles from grinding, welding and the like contaminating the surface. Oh, and don't use Brillo pads (steel wool), they will add even more rust-inducing contamination. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
June 3, 20178 yr Author WOW what great info - I got the sink from HomeHub in KK a smaller one of the superstores whose service to us has been 1st rate so I'll contact them first. Brillo - no of course not - don't want to make matters worse - and I can't wait to try the magnet test. Thanks to all!
June 15, 20178 yr Author I e-mailed TEKA in Roi Et and they replied by phone and email within a couple of hours. Although I didn't have a receipt for the purchase of the sink they still were willing to send a service tech to Khon Kaen at no charge. He arrived on time the next day and polished the sink with a German product called Starglanz [this seems to be available at Boonthavorn ( http://btvweb.boonthavorn.com/bathroom/product-detail.php?id=1026253 ). The Tech said Brasso can be used instead. He cautioned not using ScotchBrite pads as they although not metal they were still abrasive. Thanks to everyone who responded especially to Kamalabob2 who got me the direct Teka email address in Roi Et.
