Cataract plus itchy, watery eye.

Featured Replies

I recently was diagnose as having a cataract in one eye, and obviously surgery was recommended. Besides the blurring occurring in that eye I also had symptoms of watering and some itchiness. The eye doctor at Bkk/Pattaya Hospital recommended using some DexOph eye drops to clear up a slight infection in that eye, which I have, but the condition persists. I haven't been for the cataract surgery yet, but from the research I've done a cataract shouldn't be causing the watery, itchy eye. I had a thorough eye exam by the doctor, but he never suggested any other problem other than the cataract, so what would be causing the other condition?

Is this itching and watering in both eyes or just one?

If both, might well be an allergy and antihistamines might help.

If one eye only, I don't know, best I can suggest is to consult another opthalmologist.

Indeed the cataract is not the cause.

BTW no need to operate on cataract unless/until it is significantly affecting your vision.

Only one eye, the eye that has the cataract.

In that case I have no idea, but suggest you get another opinion from a different opthalmologist.

Thanks
