The Thai Immigration office at Promenada issues C of  R

It takes about 3/4 weeks, which starts when you go and make an appointment

If you need it quicker go to G4T and pay 500 Baht, I believe you will receive the C of R the next day

Not sure about docs, I guess passport / copies and proof of residence ( From where you live)

G4T is what and where?

G4T is also in Promenada just besides immigration office. I have a hunch that they are linked to certain people in immigration, if not, why can they get it done so fast.

But if you want to get free residence cert the legal way, do take note below.

It can take from 3 weeks to a few months depending on number of applicants.

You must come before 11 am to fix an appointment just to submit application.

You also need to get the photocopy of your landlord's identity card.

Somebody please confirm that G4T is still in the 500 baht/one-day turnaround certificate of residency business? I ask because a few months back, somewhere on this forum, this quick turn business was being done by an individual located on the G floor near the copy shop. Not sure whether he was in competition with G4T -- or had superceded them?

Anyway, any and all information appreciated, as I need a CR in the next few days -- and can't wait a month for the official freeby version (as I need a Thai drivers license soonest). Oh, those with knowledge, how about hours of business for one or both of these operations?

Thanx.

I think they left out the photocopy of landlord identity card of the lease agreement.

Lease agreement can be faked by the way.

I am just telling you my experience.

I took just the lease agreement when I went to apply for my residence cert. and the officer there asked me to go back and get the landlord's ID too. She wouldn't even accept the manager of the condo's ID which I had with me so  I wasted one trip.

Thanx for the info. Sounds like the G floor operation is part of G4T.

Any idea of operating hours? Or, less specifically, are they open mornings and afternoons?

Edit: I guess I could go to Facebook too, and here are their hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30-5:00. I imagine their sub operation on the G level keeps the same hours.....

I think I saw two shops that do this.

One at the basement where there are long lines of queues for visa extension, 90 day reports etc.

Another one on the 2nd or 3rd floor near the residence cert immigration office above.

Yes, they are open at the same time as the immigration offices.

If you have a consulate here it might be easier.

I get a Resident Certficate while waiting at my consulate. They write it out in about 15 minutes. 500 B.

And it's valid for 6 months. I think the one you get at the imm is only valid for 1 month. At least it used to be.

I do not have a lease, and have never used a house owner's ID card. All I have ever taken there in the past 25 plus years, is originals of utilities bills and my phone bill in my name. Never had a problem.

UPDATE:

Went to Promenada today.

Its a small Office on Ground Floor,no signs or anything.

between the copyshop and immigration.

ROOM 7!

Requirements:

- copy of passport(main page, visa page, departure card with entry stamp)

- rental contract

- 2 passport photos sized 4x6 cm

- 500 baht

no waiting time, took approx 2 minutes

Can pick up CoR next day after 2pm

Slick! Dropped the paperwork off at 1:15. Room 7 easy to find. One police looking dude sitting at a makeshift desk; the other Thai in the room sound asleep on the couch. The whole place looked like a flop house. But, hey, 500 baht and a couple of minutes -- what a deal!

Definitely bring your passport; in addition, the guy running the joint seemed only interested in photo copies of relevant passport pages, two photos, and a lease of some form. My lease was a letter written by my wife saying I lived at her house at such and such an address. That was all he needed (I did have copies of her blue book and ID card, which was in the package I handed him. Also, a TM30. Didn't seem too interested in them, but accepted the whole package.)

Pick it up tomorrow after 2.

Yes, I noticed yesterday that Room 7 was doing residence certificates. It is noticibly an unmarked room and has no Chiang Mai Immigration signage . Wasn't this where the old G4T office was before they moved upstairs? I was wondering if Room 7 was still being run by them incognito so to speak. Or is this someone else's enterprise?

G4T is not beside the imm. office. It is on the second floor near the side opposite B wing. Should see it when coming off the escalator. It's a small office so need to look carefully for sign over entrance.

U r wright, but room 7 next to immigration still belongs to G4T and handles the PoR.
