Hi, I am hoping someone can assist please.

My son and daughter in law are planning a trip to Thailand hoping to spend up to a year travelling around. She is currently prescribed a monthly injection of Aripiprazole ( Abilify ) in the UK so it is a major concern as to whether the trip is possible.

The medication is also available in tablet form so this is also an option

Can anyone advise if she will be able to get this prescribed to her in Thailand please and if so how they should go about this ?

Many Thanks

It is available here in oral form only. She would have to see a psychiatrist at a hospital to get it prescribed, and it will be rather expensive.

She can bring in a 30 day supply with her and in practice they don't usually count the tablets so as much as 3 months would probably get through OK as long as in labelled prescription bottles.  After that, she'll need to see a psychiatrist - best done in either Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

I can't say exactly but more than its retail price in Europe. (as their is duty on imported medication plus there will be a hospital mark-up).

If you can find out what it retailes for then estimate about double that.
