Might Fido eat you?

Featured Replies

I think this is something most dog owners have wondered about, especially for those living alone.

So here'e the skinny on the topic:

Short answer  -- it happens.

You might not look at your beloved Bella or Buddy the same way after reading this.

No one tracks the frequency of pets scavenging their expired owners’ bodies, but dozens of such case reports appear in forensic science journals over the last 20 years or so, and they’re the best window we have into a situation dreaded by pet owners: dying alone and being eaten.

Two men stuck on life raft for for a month with no food or water. Only 1 and half made it to safety. True story bro.

Yes, of course.

But the article theorizes that dogs may be triggered to eat by things other than severe hunger.

I think everyone can understand the eat anything if starving to death thing.

With dogs, it's common for people to love their dogs as if they're human. But alas, they're not.

Weirdly, I've never "wondered about" my pets eating me if I died .

It seems unlikely, unless they were starving (too many other stories about dogs refusing to leave their much-loved 'owner') - but even if they did, why on earth would I care if I was dead?

I guess we'd need to do a poll to look at percentages of people that have wondered if Fido might eat them.

You think when a dog licks you that it is giving affection?

Its just tasting you buddy, just tasting you.
