The airport rail link station is in the basement of the airport.

No cab required just a bit of pathfinder skills to find it.

Final stop is Phaya Thai.

Less than 30 minutes.

Website confusing but "official":

Then change to the BTS by walkway and 6 stops later you are at Asoke.

Or, you can go to Makkasan Staion on the airport link (2 stops before Phaya Thai) and change by walkway to the MRT and 1 stop later you are at MRT Sukhumvit/BTS Asoke.

But just keep in mind that the train can be a bit convenient on rush hour and if you have heavy luggage.

The arrival station in BKK centre is not all that "luggaged-ari-traveller" friendly, with flights of steps....keep in mind if you have luggage...Enjoy your trop and remember to avoid the Air Port Duty Free shops at all circumstaces!!

OP .... are you kidding ? The internet is chokkers with printable maps of Bangkok's rail system, and Suvarnabhumi Airport info.

You are right, the last time I tried to find it all the stairs leading down were blocked off with no diversion signs, that told you

where to go, this was about four weeks ago, I did get it eventually.

a member with over 2000 posts and he cant google airport link /Bts/ Mrt for an easy to read map.

As stated above ....see post #4 from Rhodie...simple and easy IF YOU AVOID PEAK TIMES.........done it many times myself. A pain if you have large checked luggage but do-able. When you swap from airlink to MRT make sure you head the right direction.......ONE stop to Asoke...(if first stop not Asoke you have gone the wrong direction)

I have stayed at .....Paradiso Boutique Suites   ( 11-12 Sukhumvit Soi  10)  a  10 minute walk ( if you walk slowly) from Asoke  station....just a few meters off Sukhumvit Rd...close to Terminal 21 and soi cowboy ( if that is your scene). It is guest friendly and actually does have a back door ( leads to a nearby pool & beer bar ( watch out those ladies play a mean game of pool))

The airport train - probably not the express, which doesn't stop at every station - to Makkasan station (Petchburi). You could walk to Asoke, but that obviously depends on which part, and how much luggage.

Do you realise the Express stopped running several years ago?

Its only the City Line now - all stops

Interesting. The ARL seemed to be empty when I looked. Everybody had worked out that the "all stops" option just wasn't that much of a hassle.

The train's brilliant. Is there any other city where you can travel such a distance from the airport for so little cost?

I thought about Singapore, but I don't think quite as cheap or quite as far. They do - though - seem to do a free tour if you've got a long stopover.

55 Ringgit = 433 baht. For that I could get into Bangkok from the airport, get something to eat and pay for a bed.

[Okay, a bed in a hostel!]

It's 20km against 30km and about 60 baht against whatever in bkk, so bkk wins this contest so far. Have to say Singapore is remarkably cheap considering how much everything else is there.

Got the airport train this morning. Piece of cake. 45 baht and about 30 mins.

Checked into the Miami hotel. Looks like an old GIs r&r hotel from the 60s haha. It's super dated but nice and clean and everything works. Excellent area in between Asoke and Nana.

It is good, isn't it? Next time experimentally stand in the wrong bit of the platform where you would block the doors. The security guy loves giving farangs a talking to, and it gives you a chance to practice your kor toot.
