Forensic investigators miss huge bloodstain in death of German's girlfriend

PHUKET: -- Phuket forensic investigators managed to overlook a large bloodstain in the apartment of the Thai woman who they suspect has been murdered by her German boyfriend.

Relatives who went to the room to collect Picha "Lek" Nampadung's belongings found the stain under a mattress.

On two previous visits to the room in Wiset Road the forensic team had failed to find it.

So, alerted by the shocked relatives, they came back for a third time and used a box cutter to slice out the section of mattress and take the dried blood sample to the lab for analysis.

Picha, 35, was found in a ravine in deep jungle in the Wichit area of the island at the weekend.

When police went to arrest her 35 year old boyfriend Nico Papke he slashed his own neck. He is recovering in hospital.

A warrant for premeditated murder and concealment of a corpse is set to run out as the suspect has been in hospital all week so the police are applying to the local court for permission to jail him when doctors decide he can leave, reported Daily News.

No explanation was given by Daily News as to how the investigators could have missed such an obvious piece of evidence.

Pure and utter incompetence perhaps?

They bought their positions and had no training! Amazing Thailand!

"No explanation was given by Daily News as to how the investigators could have missed such an obvious piece of evidence."  Blind !  or in a hurry to get away for lunch.

regards worgeordie

the case was already 'wrapped up' without wrapping up this part of the evidence!!

Normal quality of 'professionals' resulting from a 'No-Fail' policy.

Farang did it .......... no need for any further investigation.

RIP beautiful girl.

Drag the defendant behind the families pick up truck with a rope over one of the many unfinished roads until dead.

next case.

I wonder would the fact that it was under the mattress be a clue as to how they missed it?

Yeah, I'm assuming the mattress was turned over so a cursory inspection wouldn't reveal it; no excuse but it explains how it was missed.

Not exactly CSI Miami  is it!

Explanations of motives, no matter how probable or imaginary, are gushing out of officials mouths like waterfalls as soon as they trample on a crime scene, but being confronted with their own stupidity that same enthusiasm dries up to a drip, driiip, nothing.

Explanation: <deleted> working

nothing surprises me with these idiots anymore

so many "  paddy the irishman "  jokes,  what about somchai ?

I remember one case in Pattaya many years ago where the family of the victim arrived a week later, checked out the room where their son had died, and found a bullet casing on the floor, previously undiscovered. It was only then that an examination found the victim had a bullet hole in his head, hidden by his hair  ! Keystone cops indeed !

Elementary my dear Mae!

The officer in charge of the case, " Blind Pete " was at a loss to explain how he had missed it.

Incompetence such as this should never again be seen to happen , things must change. The only answer is to further muzzle the media and to strengthen defamation laws in order to silence those rocking the boat.

The body is found, the man confessed- more or less and what you need more,  :shock1:

The Thailand 4.0 forensic specialist squad probably was on a training session at a golf course near by on this day.

They missed it because no one was pointing at it.

according to the fatal accident during parasailing I would imagine the German was hiding the mattress. No Thai police member would ever make such a mistake.

..since when do the Daily News make decisions and unauthorised statements..pathetic press standards..no wonder some of you get upset and go off on the wrong tangent.

...as much evidence as possible.

Off topic, but the victim looks uncannily like a woman i know, an ex of my stepdaughter. About 10 years younger, but both beautiful.
RIP.
