I can think of better things to put on your FB page, than a reference to "Home , sweet home, Bangkok," hours before arriving without a visa or money.  Looks like he was working here, too.  Good riddan

Probably no 20k baht and no ticket out of the country within 30 days.

Also a possibility is that he was doing a out/in for a new visa exempt entry was the reason he was pulled to the side.

Gosh. So many there most be direction from higher up.
I think the 3 recent ones are 35 or less and could be viewed as likely to be earning money here.

lools like this guy fought muay Thai here for some time previously also appears to be an exemption not a visa case.

I had a look at his facebook page and it appears he was in the states. So not an out/in.

yes and looks to have been out of the country for at least 6 weeks if not longer judging by his facebook. flight was long haul lax to svb .

But if you look further he states he needs to get a real visa now! Also Maymar is mentioned.

However looks like he realises his folly. Good luck to him.

Detainment room at 3000 Baht per day ?

Some scam probably..

How much cash did he have? No cash?

Did he have a confirmed return ticket? No?

From which country is his passport?

An answer to these 3 questions, may make things clearer...

Good luck to the poor chap in detention...<removed>

An error since it is 750 baht per day or perhaps it was 750 for more than 6 hours.

well if it is all inclusive, with food, wifi, a/c and unlimited booze one may consider such an amount!!!!!!!

The face book reference provided advance warning to the IO's of his imminent arrival !

They could have flagged him last time he left, and was likely told numerous times to get a visa.  You're not in Kansas, anymore, Dorothy, errr I mean Cody.

Six weeks out - not a "visa run" - so doesn't meet that Exempt-specific rule for refusal.  He couldn't be working a job with that length of absence, either - so the refusals of entry is not about illegal-working.  He just paid for a trans-continental flight, which combined with the "no ATM access" game shows it's not about money.  So all official reasons for denying entry which have been used are bunk.

Others were questioned because they had been here in the past longer-term - even after being out of Thailand for months.  It appears that anyone who appears to like it here long enough to have spent an extended period is at risk if they attempt to enter later - even with a TR, and especially Exempt.

For those who have ever stayed here for an extended period - even a year ago - if you arrive without a Non-immigrant Visa or re-entry permit on an extension of stay, just fly to a neighboring country, then walk in.  It's the only safe course of action to take.  Even if refused at a land-border (less-likely), at least you can take your pick of where to go next.

There are many reasons that an IO can use including the fact that a person is considered to be an "undesirable " defined variously within the list of reasons for refusing entry.

References are made to him seeking work and cheap housing in Cambodia, so it hardly looks like he was simply living off savings.  But yes, after you have abused the system, they are sitting back waiting for you....would make for an anxious 30 hour trip.

Correct me if im wrong i thought if you had no return flight and no visa airlines would refuse you travel? Or is that just another fallacy!

Plus he has a daughter isnt there a dependents visa?

If there is he should have got one .......

yes, but not something you get at the airport...not being legally married would likely complicate things, too.  Otherwise you would have even more widespread visa fraud, as agents would likely have nominee kids you could claim for a visa.  It wouldn't give you permission to work, that is for certain.

Not quite true. It is possible to obtain a visa/extension of stay based on being the LEGAL parent of a Thai child.  The requirement to have 400k in a Thai bank likely discouraged his applying ..........

He might get a single-entry Non-O for that, then a job w/work-permit with that.  But he would need to make sure he was the legally-recognized father, first.  Better yet, he is a dad - just get married - but perhaps I am being to old-fashioned.
