Labor Ministry breaks foreign labor registration into 3 phase process

BANGKOK, 21 July 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Labor has geared up to register foreign laborers by opening centers for registration across the nation that will operate between July 24 and August 7.

Permanent Secretary for Labor ML Puntrik Smiti explained that in anticipation of a high number of migrant laborers needing registration during this period due to the new executive decree on migrant workers, the Ministry of Labor has broken down the process into 3 phases that will be facilitated one at a time.

Between July 24 and August 7, employers will be able to submit forms on their workers at centers in Bangkok and across the nation. From August 8 to September 9, the employers will have to escort their workers to meet with officials of the ministry for announcement.

The third phase after September 9 will be for the foreign workers to contact their home countries for verification of nationality. Myanmar and Cambodia have already prepared to open one-stop centers in Thailand for the process while Laotian workers will need to travel home.

Employers are urged to download documentation ahead of time from www.doe.go.th/alien or to call 1694 for guidance.
