Wow, and I kid you not.  This is perhaps the most detailed report I've seen regarding the weather in Thailand in the last 15 years.  I swear, it would seem as if the Thai's try to keep the weather report as a national secret.  Perhaps they believe the same as what was joked about in "Good Morning Vietnam"... nobody wants to hear that it is going to be hot today, tomorrow, and the next day, etc.

It would be nice to have a non-static radar image of impending rain/storms, as opposed to static ones which do not convey movement of storms.  I use the app MyRadar while in the US, but here it just paints the outline of Thailand... as if it were sunny all about LOS.

The clock is ticking forward in Thailand, but sometimes I feel like I'm living in the early '70s.

Plenty of info on their website.

This

http://weather.tmd.go.th/bma_ncLoop.php

Shows relatively up to date information on rainfall in the central area. It's quite accurate, but can be delayed up to an hour. Other parts of their website have good satellite images showing the approaching storm.

Rain is approaching from the West, as we speak : http://weather.tmd.go.th/bma_nkLoop.php

This time of year a lot of the rain comes from the south-west monsoon.

Thank you, but in this particular moment, rain (i.e. tropical storm) is approaching from the east.  Where I am currently residing, Korat, is not even on the map you provided (second link).  I'm sure that the folks in BKK are fine.

Weather changes rapidly; so one-hour updates might as well be yesterday's news.  If the Thai gov't cares about their citizens, they should provide better, and more accurate weather forecasts.  I feel empathy for the poor sod stuck out in a rice paddy when a huge thunderstorm with lightning arrives on their heels with absolutely no warning.

Edit:

Using the site you provided, I was able to view the loop-back radar from Khon Kaen to view my area.  The radar images are 8 hours old!!!

I did try your map but doesn't give K.P.Phet.

Not that it worried me as I just look out of the window.

So far K.P.Phet has been great, mostly that blue stuff with the odd bit of those white things. Temp mid 30c. I'm going out tonight for a meal so it's bound to pee down then. Note to self get a table undercover just in case.

Thanks to Ron 19 for the info anyway.
