Imagine how many Ford cars with DCT that people would have bought if - before purchase - they were told by Ford that contrary to all the other makes and models available from all the other manufacturers - if you buy our car you will have to learn a new way to drive it ? Fact is Ford blundered big time, their offer of increased warranty is the proof. And the resale value is the pudding.

It does seem a poor decision to put a sports car transmission in a car aimed at people who aren't really into driving.

Maybe just learn to drive period. Or at the very minimum learn to drive around niggles. I don't see PROTON drivers lined up at the dealer because their AMT doesn't work.

I think people lack of willingness to adapt is a factor or a lack of willingness to experiment with a different way of driving.

I wonder what happens in countries which have separate licenses for auto vs manual transmissions?

Pretty sure that Ford, in the same way as all other motor manufacturers, really don't give a stuff about the resale value of their products. Only consumers do that.

Ford don't give a stuff about anything never mind the resale value! It's 3 months since we've had the "new design transmission  fitted ( the 4th from new), it was supposed to be the end of all our problems .

Tuesday it started loosing power in the middle of driving on the highway, managed to make it home and then the malfunction indicator lamp flashed on the screen.

We called Ford out first thing yesterday morning and it was taken away for "testing", no one called til we complained to Bangkok at lunch time today, they don't inform you what's going on and neither do they know what the problem is.

They don't reply to consumer protection, Phuket says it's Bangkok that should see to it, Bangkok says it Phuket, consumer protection have been promising a meeting since our claim last year in September, on and on it goes. :bah:
