Reputable pharmacy that will not rip me off

Hi everyone,

I usually go to a place in Bangkok where the pharmacist is famous for good prices on medications.

I cant get to Bangkok, and need my medicine. Where in Pattaya is a reputable pharmacist that has good prices and good quality control?

Watsons, Fascinos for a start, but I shop at a local pharmacy and have never been "ripped off" yet.

I've not been ripped off, but have had some terrible recommendations by so called "pharmacists".  Completely the wrong drug for the problem.  But perhaps that's being ripped off? LOL

All the pharmacies here are "rip offs"because of their huge mark ups on medicines.

Some years ago I switched to Fascino which was at least 20 per cent cheaper than pharmacies in supermarkets and streetside.

Recently I started buying my meds online from a major professional pharmacy in Baangkok. I send them an order, they send an invoice all on Line then I credit their bank account using internet banking and copy that bank receipt to them. Meds are parcelled and sent by mail for Baht80! Usually arrive the next day or the one after.

To give you and idea of savings every month I buy Med No.1 Fascino B1750 BKK 1245 Med No. 2 Fascino 1300 BKK 800

Next time you are in Bangkok go to the row of pharmacies on Rama IV opposite Chulalongkorn Hospital and check their prices and set up such an arrangement.

Many of us don't go to Bangkok.  Why not share where you get your meds online from?  Some of us would sure appreciate it.

I would trust a pharmacist to give me the right drug in the right quantity for a particular illness. After all, they just read it out of the same book that a doctor would use when writing a prescription.

What I would not trust a pharmacist to do is to diagnose the illness from the symptoms in the first place. That's a doctor's job.

I find that Fascino is cheaper than everywhere else I looked at in Pattaya and very reliable. The large one by City Hall particularly as it also has lots of parking space, though the others are fine too. Get the discount card for an extra x% off.

 

For the basic generic blood pressure meds and statins that I take I dont think there would be any point buying online and paying for shipping. A year's supply at Fascino is only a few hundred Baht. If I needed some fancy brand name drugs at several thousand Baht a time I would surely go to Bangkok as mentioned.

Agreed! Sadly, a few times, they've not had the specific med.  So, recommended another.  Which was the wrong med.  I even looked it up and showed it to them.  No luck. LOL

If you don't give us the name of this place why should we believe you ?  Is it so hard to mention them so they will get extra business? You don't even mention the name of the meds so I give you

online and mail order medicine is actually illegal in Thailand, but if you have been to their store and they're providing a service by 'refilling' a prescription to a known client that has been diagnosed is okay, just calling them up and asking for certain medicine to be sent over is illegal as far as the law is concerned.

 

How much of these law is policed? the penalty is on the pharmacy not you so if it's convenient and cheap, I don't see why not.

 

A better source of shops that would 'refill' your prescription by mail is opposite Siriraj hospital in Bangkok, there are rows of them selling wholesale price

Definitely true. I've had the same from doctors, even specialists. You need to do your own research here.

Indeed ,that pharmacy is much cheaper, esspecially when you use a lot of medicin..

You can call them, they have one English speaking staff..Very good service and can be trusted..

Fortunately or unfortunately with the advent of the internet, much information can be obtained.

I have been around the medical field much of my life and my experience is the "pharmacist" at the stores here give better advice then the Doctors.

You go to the hospital and they sell you 3 or 4 meds. when in reality one is the answer.  Why?  Money money money!!

Absolutely untrue. Most doctors here are way more educated than the unlicensed pharmacists.  LOL

Actually, it's SC Drugs, just past the Crown Plaza Hotel. I got the name from an earlier thread that discussed this issue thoroughly. I've been going there for a couple of years. Much cheaper, in some cases, hugely cheaper, when buying my BP pills, compared to anywhere else. I go to Bangkok quite often so I don't do the mail service. There are other drug stores on that stretch.

Should only use an AC pharmacy though, as some drugs must be kept below a certain temperature.

I've been buying via E-mail from this pharmacy for over three years - never a problem.  Their prices are always lower than any I've found locally.
 
I've never personally been there, I use bank transfer to their account and the Meds arrive via EMS two days later.

No 2 is a Bangkok pharmacy on Rama VI Road

yu are correct about all the chemists near Siriraj......very competitive prices from most of them..I know because I used to go there every 3 months to the hospital for check ups
