Qatar has lifted visa requirements for visitors from 80 countries yesterday to encourage tourism amid the two-month boycott of all transport links by its neighbors. Among those countries are Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, UK, and U.S.

The visa exemption, which went into effect immediately, means people of the 80 nations can enter Qatar without paperwork and stay up to 30, or in some cases 90, days.

Passport holders of 47 countries including Thailand, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, UK and U.S. can stay in Qatar up to 30 days.

They will grade B 30 day and a 30 day extension

Grade A the 33 existing countries get 90 days extended up to 160 days

And to give the finger at those who rant against the country, Qatar could for instance further slash intercontinental air travel fares on it's national carrier....their revenues will sky rocket!!...

Why not waiver the entry fee then? First time I went to Qatar, I remember a very attractive immigration office with a wonderful smile asking me if I had a credit card. Once handed over her smile and sparkling eyes beamed as she said welcome to Qatar.

A rich country that charges entrance!

I never paid anything to enter Qatar and the company just applied for a work permit while I was there. It was all done in a matter of days.

I wonder if this is still valid:

Visa Exemptions
Nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates) do not require a visa to enter Qatar.
