The verdict was decided by heir general prior to the trial commencing and more likely the trial was just to legitimise the juntas decided outcome.

Oh.... never would have thought of that.

Of course, goes without saying.

Oddly enough some newbs hold the current judiciary in such high regard that they feel it is honest, upstanding, and to be respected.

There's alway the possibility she's been people smuggled

If her fine (for a 50 year-old) ass is already in Singapore and Thai Immi has no record of her departure, you can bet your sweet bippy that she was "people smuggled."

...intercepted chat on her LINE account to hubby Ansusorn suggest that he pick up the boy from school this arvo as she's a bit busy...

People can say all they want about the illegitimacy of the junta and the questionable Thai judiciary.

But at the end of the day, YL did exactly what she was accused of having done -- adopted and presided over a huge scheme to buy votes and enrich a network of cronies at the expense of the Thai government's (Thai people's) coffers.

And resolutely ignored all warnings and critics who pointed out the program's flaws and failings all throughout the process, allowing the pilfering of government funds and fake/corrupt rice deals to continue. She absolutely was complicit and negligent in her actions and inactions relating to the rice subsidy program.

She deserved whatever was coming to her -- regardless of the method by which it arrived

We are mostly au fait with recent Thai political chicanery so please spare us the history lesson.

Yes, billions got squandered but the upside is there's a whole lot more willing to vote for her, her brother and their acolytes than ever before.

That must really stick in the craw of those of the other persuasion with their sense of entitlement fading fast. Probably makes them quite scared too I imagine. But they have the army on side... for now.

That's the Thai people's army BTW.

Better to fled and fight another day than be 'suicide' in the military cell. This toxic and corrupted environment is simple not good enough for a decent person like Yingluck. The generals and their corrupt cronies will have karma served on them in due course.

Isnt pilfering, corruption and fraud the role of the RTP to investigate and prosecute? Separation of parlimentary and judiciary powers may be the correct term.

Politicians, i assume would have originally legislated every law or policy.Should they be held responsible for those who abuse of fail to comply. If so there should be many politicians charged with negligence for failing to stop all the unlicenced drivers on roads and every other crime that the RTP fail to enforce the law.

I hope the woman who wrote the "Thaksin where are you" song writes one for Yingluck, I would like the complete set.

She did, what she knew she could get away with. At the worst, she could always buy immunity and/or a foreign passport...

And how's that any different then the next bunch that's going to get voted in?  Or the bunch before the Shins?  And before the ones before the Shins?

Thai people don't elect their leaders.  They elect the public faces of the leaders.  Who, granted, get a juicy share of the spoils for doing the leaders' bidding.  But they don't get the real power.

The UAE (of which Dubai is a part) doesn't have an extradition treaty with Thailand.  The UK does.

And the UK doesn't automatically welcome all immigrants, well unless you're a Moslem economic migrant claiming to be refugee.

I'd say she would be eligible to claim asylum

Finally the Shinawatra trait kicked in. Run away from accountability as fast as you possible can.

Yeah, or having great stitch-up goggles.
