Temporary import of motorbike into Thailand

Hi Guys, I know this has been done to death, but with the recent changes to the laws, I was wondering if anyone can post their experience under the new guidelines, or are they like most guidelines in TL ?

It states that you require a guide to be with you at all times, but realistically I have done over 15,000 klms all over Thailand over the last 7 years (on various rental big bikes) & never even been pulled over or stopped for anything, from Phuket to Chiang Mai to Bangkok, never had an issue.

 

I'm planning to fly my bike in from AU, if I was to have "the guide/agent" meet me at customs, tick all the boxes (so to speak), & ride off into the sunset, come back to customs (with my guide/agent) upon leaving again to fly out. Would they really know where I've been, or whether my guide was with me or not ? 

 

I'd suspect that more than 2/3 of the local enforcement wouldn't even know about the changes.

 

If anyone has has had some experience since the law changes, your input would be appreciated.
