How to cancel Motor Bike Registration

Featured Replies

Ok, so as the heading indicates I am wondering how to cancel the registration and remove my name from the ownership book ??

Why: I am thinking about replacing my 10 year old Suzuki Hayate and I would think I'd get bugger all for it, so I am thinking about sending it up to my wifes village, but I don't want them involving me in any accidents etc because my name is in the owners book.

I don't even want to go to the hassle of transferring it, just send it up there unregistered and let them or my wife sort it out next time she is there.

Go your DLT office with your wife a sort it out there,  Mr. can't be bothered was made to bother.

I never heard of canceling a title deed of a motorcycle. I doubt DLT would remove your name without a replacement name.

Good idea to get it in someone else's name. A signed sales/purchase agreement may come in handy, if your worried about the transfer taking place or mischief using the bike.

Not sure if it's the same as a car where after it's been uninsured /off road for 3 years they cancel the registration.

Throw away the book and grind of the numbers on frame and engine and it becomes on farm transport.
