Vinasat 2 and CTH

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if there remains any Thai content accessible to persons using the old CTH satellite equipment pointed at Vinasat 2? or with an alternative set-top box..

Would be grateful for any info, you are willing to share..

Note: I don't need info on anything else, just what is left on the Vinasat 2 satellite that may remain of interest to Thai's - The question is professional in nature.

Thanks

Lee

CTH Box settings
By LivinLOS, July 2 in Audio/Visual

Channel 7 recently disappeared from her channel listing, and she decided to do a scan and lost all her channels, poking around I think the transponder settings are lost. There's options for vinasat and 2 options on Thaicom5 (Ku and C). Not getting a lock guessing at it and cant see them from a google search.

... a bit later ...

Well it was almost comical seeing the reactions of local satellite shops when you walk in with a CTH box.. No.. No.. Go away.. Shoo shoo.. <hand waving> I guess they caught so much flack on those they freak out at the sight of them 3 shops in a row acted exactly the same and wouldnt listen that it was the FTA channels I was trying to get.

At that point I gave up and left the wife trying as I had better things to do, she ended up speaking with an installer who told her that CTH has 'sent a signal' to turn disable the box and make it useless (cough bullshit cough) without even touching our CTH box or plugging it in.. He then told her his own CTH box was the same, non functional in his home.

If those CTH boxes where updating the transponder/ channel list over the air OTA then its quite possible that they could have sent a kill signal

but more likely is the transponder settings changed and CTH didn't/haven't/wont update the OTA signal (didnt they go bust ? )

Manual tuning of the reciver maybe possible but very time consuming

and if the box tries to OTA at next power up all setting might disappear again...always try to get a receiver with "blindscan" capabilities and ideally a way to connect to a PC so settings can be saved edited and easily restored...a lot of the boxes supplied by various providers seem to be reliant solely apon OTA , to lock the box to that particular provider ?
