Hua Hin clears up obstructions to dual-track rail project

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, 22 September 2017 (NNT) – Hua Hin railway station is clearing up buildings in railroad area which stand in the way of the construction of a dual-track rail project.

Hua Hin railway station manager Prasong Komuk said the authorities were negotiating with the owners of some 1,000 buildings which obstruct the rail project of the State Railway of Thailand to build the Nakhon Pathom - Hua Hin dual-track railway.

The construction is scheduled to commence in early 2018, requiring the relocation of residences in the affected area. Compensation will be paid to the affected persons by 300-800 baht per square meter.

The construction, which is expected to be completed in 2021, will be carried out without affecting the ancient Hua Hin railway station which is viewed as an important tourist attraction.

Why was this not done long ago? It was three years ago that encroached railway land alongside the track south of Nong Gae halt was cleared and fenced off clearly SRT claiming back their land. Yet, the encroachers in Muan Hua Hin were not warned then?

Something to do with making a bit of extra cash, I think you'll find.
