A Jet Star airliner made an emergency landing at Chiang Mai international airport before noon today (Oct 2) after smoke was reported in the passengers’ cabin.

Informed airline sources said that the Jet Star plane bound for Calcutta from Vietnam sought permission from control tower at Chiang Mai international airport for emergency landing after smoke was seen in the passengers’ cabin.

so someone cooking curry in the hold

There really are some mentally retarded low brains on this site that would come up with something as hilarious as  "Cooking Curry" when an airliner fills with smoke and is forced to do an emergency landing...I expect if it happened to them they would have the remnants of the cooked curry running down their legs after they had soiled their pampers.

More to be pitied than scolded.

Coming from the baggage hold?  Be curious about the source.  Battery???

Quick action from the crew possibly saved this aircraft.

Had they not, and the smoke in the hold had actually become a proper fire - then this could quite easily have become a tragedy on the news and Air Crash Investigation type docos

Idiots posting about cooking curry should be ashamed - and then thankful they weren't on board if things went sour

It is called humour, nothing to wet your own pants over.

some posters on TV need to chill out. life is too short to be serious all the time.

You know what some are like, if it's black they'll argue, to no end, that it's white. Miserable is as miserable does, why can't they just find some happiness, it lessens the pools of misery that some seem to be continually wallowing in.:wai:

Ah, if your pants were on fire and I hosed you down you would still complain!!!

excuse the pun, but get a hold on it!!

All international airports are available at a moments notice, Great job by the Pilot and crew.

In a more dire situations aircrafts like this burning have become uncontrollable at low altitude and crashed.

Another reason a new airport for Chiang Mai is long overdue, to be built in a less developed and populated area.
