LAMPANG: -- CCTV footage from outside a school in Lampang showed a brave policeman throw himself in front of a motorcycle to save a child from being hit full on.

The child, who had come out suddenly from behind a parked car, and the motorcyclist were uninjured.

Officer Somsak Laemkhom suffered some bruises but was fine later in the day, reported Sanook.

Teachers waiting to receive students at Thetsaban 3 school had rushed across the road to the scene of the accident. It happened on September 20th.

The teachers at the school will present a gift of appreciation and an award to Somsak in a ceremony at the school at 9am this morning.

Many members of the public praised the policeman for his actions in helping to save the primary school child from injury.

Well done that man , but entrances to schools on busy roads , surprised the cop doesn't have to act this way every day twice !

Good cops in; bad cops out

why the f*** do the cars park on/close to the pedestrian crossing??

I wouldn't say the policeman threw himself infront of the motorcycle, having seen the student starting to cross, he was putting his hand up to stop the motorcycle.  However, the motorcycle was certainly going too fast, and the policeman should have been paying closer attention.  As usual, complacency doing a routine job.

The motorcycle rider should have been charged with riding without due care and attention, especially outside a school.

Why?

Why not?

well done to the cop, what i see is a need for more protection around the school entrance

such as bollards to stop parking, also a couple of large ramps to slow down the self centered brainless

twits in cars and on bikes

Again a misleading report. If the author watches the video he would see a child innocently emerging from behind an illegally parked car into the path of a speeding motorcycle. The policeman grabs at the motorcyclist from the side he does not throw himself in front of the machine.

Wow! Did you see that!? He threw himself in front of that motorcycle, but he did it in a way that he was actually next to it.
