Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha thanked the Thai people in Thailand and throughout the world for their spontaneous show of respect and loyalty for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the occasion of the Royal cremation ceremony on Thursday (Oct 26).

He also thanked foreign dignitaries and the international community for joining the Thai people in paying tribute to the late King and for expressing their well wishes to Thailand during the time of national grief.

“The historic pictures of October 26 when Thai people across the country and abroad as well as the government and private sectors, the people’s sector and volunteers demonstrated their love and unity, their patience and determination in paying tribute to the late King Rama IX will be forever remembered,” said the prime minister.

Quite amazing the tributes to the late King.

I heard that there were ceremonies conducted all over the world by Thai communities.

A coming together in common grief.

We will probably never see anything like this again in our lives

Thank you Khun Prayuth Chan O Cha for acknowledgment of foreign dignitaries paying their respect.

The late king Bhumibol was truly a great man who will be forever sadly missed.

Can’t agree more

the only downside for me was the representative of The Vatican... he was bored and moreover looked bored especially during the Monks’ chanting... reflects on the whole Roman Catholic Church!! Sabai sabai

I totally agree with your comments .

No matter what your religious persuasion you can have nothing but great respect for the Thai people . The whole event was immaculate from the design of the architecture , planning , sculptures , costumes and procession . You could not help but feel the love the Thai nation had for their king . Awesome and unforgettable .

I agree wholeheartedly with all the comments made here, he was a man of many talents and I doubt that we will see his like again, certainly not in what is left of my life anyway.

He was an inventor, an artist, a musician - writing & playing, they even played some of his compositions during the ceremony yesterday. A man who deeply loved his people and his family, a huge loss to Thailand and the world in general.

I hope his people will get over his passing and enjoy their lives again.

I don't think Thais will 'get over it' as you put it. His passing was not so much a man dying it was the end of an ERA and a paradigm shift. As for now it cannot be spoken of.

This version, with English, encapsulates that Era has now gone.  I find it incredibly moving and stunning.

A verey moving event, the outpouring of grief was visible even onj nthe TV. I note the comments by the PM, I really hope he ALSO follows the late Kings dictat, sufficiency not sufficient for a single person but for the whole country. The people FIRST.

This short video just posted was the most poignant I've seen. The smoke signals the passing of an era.
