Woman jumps from Bangkok footbridge and is run over by taxi that flees scene

Witnesses said that a woman jumped off a footbridge into Suksawat Road near Soi 26 last night.

She was then run over and killed by a passing taxi arriving at just that moment.

The taxi did not stop.

Im Khong-un was dead at the scene, said Ratburana police.

She was in possession of an Omsin bank book, a health card and a quantity of cash.

A foundation medic had earlier in the evening found the lady wandering on a road and taken her to the Ratburana police.

She had been drunk at the time.

Police are investigating and the body has been sent for autopsy.

A desperate jumper and a coward driving a taxi , not a good encounter ... may be someone should have talked to her to find out what was wrong ? But no time for this , nobody cares anyway ...

Course not - he had just taken 200,000 baht from some Taiwanese tourists who had left their stuff in his taxi.

Isn't it a crime to leave the scene of an accident?  It must carry at least a 100 baht fine

overkill. If the taxi driver had been empathetic enough to have stopped he could have made of with her cash.

hope she got a good booze before she jumped. And the reaction of the taxi driver? I could understand. Not every day a woman's body crashes onto your car.

Anyway RIP

Next thing you will read is Police saying ''We found the Taxi driver and he will come in for a chat next month when he has time ' !

Which part of the report didn't you understand. People DID try to help.

Sad and tragic. I suppose jumping into a road below she was probably going to hit by some vehicle anyway. I think that would frighten anyone...not enough to flee though. Wonder if she leaves any family?

Perhaps she was already dead before the taxi hit her?  There is a big assumption being made by the authorities seeing as there is no autopsy yet.  Even then would an exact cause of death be clear to establish?  Poor woman.
