Does anyone have any recent Scotch whiskey prices at the Swampy duty free? Trying to decide whether to buy in Sydney or at Swampy. I'm mostly interested in the 12yr, 15yr., 18yr. old Glenfiddich or Glenlivet 1L bottles. I got a 15yr. old Glenfiddich 1L for USD$44 at TPE one week ago - great low price!

Did some more research and the king power website does post booze prices and brand availability.

Here are the prices at Swampy, from the King Power website

Glenfiddich 1L Reserve Cask 2450B (AUD$97)

Glenfiddich 1L Select cask 1800b (AUD$72)

Glenfiddich 70CL 18 yr. 2800b (AUD$111)

Glenlivet Master Distiller’s Reserve Solera Vatted 1L 2250B (AUD$89)

In Sydney, at Heinemann's duty free, Glenfiddich 1L Select cask was AUD$79, November 8, 2017. It's cheaper at swampy at 1800b and current exchange rates.

Worth checking if you can carry it on from swampy. The last time I flew to Oz they were confiscating liquids as you enter the departure gate.

Does any real whiskey drinker call it "scotch"?  Also amongst the single malts, Glennfiddich has to be near the bottom, but heavily marketed like JW in the blended category.

Any serious whisky (without the "e") drinker should join Siam Whisky Club.

Real whiskey drinkers don't drink scotch whisky...they drink US or Irish whiskey

If what you say is true, then no need to add the adjective "scotch"....

No such thing as "US whiskey".  If you mean American whiskey, then that includes  bourbon whiskey, rye whiskey, rye malt whiskey, malt whiskey, wheat whiskey, and corn whiskey.  Also included are blended whiskey, blend of straight whiskeys, grain whisky, and spirit whiskey.

Yes, the KP website has most of the current offers/prices.

Are you flying BKK-Oz or Oz-BKK? I only ask as your shopping options vary at SBIA/BKK based on DF-departure (more, larger shops) vs. DF/Arrival (fewer/smaller shops).

One thing I dislike a bit is the specialized bottlings offered for the int'l/DF 'market', but what can you do.

You can also purchase in town at the KP shop, and arrange pick-up at their counter in the int'l departures area. Obviously, you have to be cognizant of your routing and subsequent flight(s) and any liquids restrictions.
