The real purpose of rounding up the 50 prostitutes was so that a 'sales' brochure supplement could produced and handed out to all those enquiring at the Boat Show Information desk.

On the other hand, the brochure could be offered to anyone in need of a tug.

Was that Pattaya Bay Beach Rd or Jomptien Beach Rd the rounding up was done on? According to the publicity, the boat show is in Jomptien, not Pattaya.

Usual BS pretend crack down. They could just have put a sign up saying not to be there during the time period of the show.

Just what I was thinking ,she must get around , she said do you want Boom in Hua-Hin , in Chiang Mai and one or two other places.  She comes along with a flend called Lubyoubig.

I'm sure you meant to say 50 meters, the roundup was at night.

You both are wrong.. those are just the ones nearest to the police station... working across the street from them

The Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show is on from the 23rd November to 26th November.

Entry is free

Unlike the women rounded up.

why doesn't Pattaya and the authorities arrange that one particular street / soi ( maybe soi 6 ? ) be regarded as an adult venue/street where prostitutes can legally carry out their business and be monitored - just like the "winkelstrauser" in Hamburg  which has a boarded entry with notices to advise public .  This way the business of prostitution / selling sex can be made in an organised ,  legally approved safe area which can be monitored .  The sex trade can never go away but it can be arranged to be  safe and  organised  .  Also , all prostitutes in this "street" would have to be registered AND have regular medical check ups with proof of same for customers .

A sensible approach.  Unfortunately Thailand doesn't do sensible

Gogos, beer bars and massage parlours can ply their trade with legally available girls or boys. Soliciting is however, illegal.

Well I suppose they could pretend you gave them gonorrhea which they already had.

If it was Jomtien there would only be about 5 old ladies and a couple of lady boys. And maybe 1 or 2 homeless who could or not be prostitutes.

I'm sure with the international fleet review in Pattaya bay later( this month?)  with many navy sailors from many countries, their service will be required and a roaring snatch trade is expected

77jowo reported that the women were aged between 18 and 45 and were selling sex.

And how did they know?

Simple the undercover white cop walked down Beach Road with a 1000B note in his hand and said to every girl "Boom Boom" when they said yes, they were arrested.

Yes it was  a joke. There was a documentary a few years ago showing US sailors landing at

the peir in Pattaya, and the sailors were all welcomed by these pretty ladies saying,  Welcome to

Thailand.  Ah memories of my youth.

They can't do that, as they would have to legalise prostitution first, and they ain't gonna do that.

Maybe 'they' don't need to legalise prostitution but certainly de-criminalise it.

The way paid-for sex is regulated works pretty well as it is. Massage parlours can be licensed and gogos and bars can have girls available as long as the customer takes them off the premises. Beach Road soliciting, however, is not.
