Police in Pattaya arrested a British man for assaulting an Algerian man in south Pattaya.

Police and rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation attended the scene at 4.30am on Sunday morning after reports that a foreigner had been injured after being involved with an altercation with another foreigner.

At the scene was an Algerian man identified as MR.ANTER YOUCEFI, 34, who had suffered a serious head wound.

Witnesses told police the unidentified British man had attacked the Algerian on Walking Street but it wasn’t immediately clear why.

Police said the British man, who is now in police custody was drunk and that they will study CCTV footage of the incident as part of their investigations.

If unprovoked lock him up for 5 years followed by persona non grata as a deterrant to others who think its acceptable to attack others

Ghad - tried using Google translate on the Siam Chon article.
The headline "(มีคลิป) หนุ่มอังกฤษเมาโชว์นักเลงหาเรื่องทำร้ายร่างกายหนุ่มแอลจีเลียเจ็บ" becomes "(With clips) Young England drunk show gangster <deleted> young licking lick" !

Which would give a whole different outlook on the story.

Obviously the Brit had his perfect night ruined. Must have gone well with being drunk, women and a good fight. Now in police custody, he will miss the traditional after fight curry and enjoy the fine cuisine served in the clink. He should have stayed in the UK, had the curry and given the lack of police funding, probably got away with it. He deserves what he gets.

Let's be fair, finding an attractive bar girl at 4.30 am when they are all tucked up in bed next to the fat bald farang can be frustrating. Probably fighting over who gets the hairy ladyboy or the 'middle aged' girl !

Being out at "sleep o'clock" can be fraught with danger nowadays, in most countries.

Nowadays? It has always been like that. :coffee1: ....from Roman times

A drunk UK man acting aggressively and looking for trouble, attacked and injured an Algerian  could be the headline

The story in the Siam Chon article quotes a Thai woman saying she was accompanying the Algerian who was drinking and partying along with his friends in bars along Walking Street when a drunk UK man, only known as Jo, started harassing the group of friends of the victim, Anter Youcefi,. They tried to avoid him not wanting any trouble, but Jo wouldn't let up and challenged the friends to go outside. A few moments later she saw her friend, Anter Youcefi attacked, his shirt was soaked in blood so she called the authorities nearby.

25 plus years ago when I was this guys age in Pattaya I would have found far more pleasurable ways of spending my time at 4:30am. Kind of feel a bit sorry for these young losers these days

It needs 2 to tango. Unprovoked is hard to believe and these guys are used to headscarfs anyhow.

Why is it hard to believe?

To be fair there are a large number who fit this description in Walking street on any given night..........myself included :)

If the guy was drunk and racist it's not hard at all.

As you have no idea what went before, I think some restraint might be in order.

Which guy?

The British man or the Algerian.

You think any of the two is free of racist ideas because of nationality or religion?

Oh.....so this time there is no Thai involvement......I reckon there are two groups of police officers helping them to negotiate the "terms".
