A video clip showing a young caucasian couple using a paint pen to write on the pole of an advertisement on Silom Road in the heart of Bangkok has gone viral with more than 1 million views in less than day.

By 8am on Thursday, the clip had been watched 1.029 million times after it was posted by Facebook user Vorathep Charoenpornpanich at 4pm on Wednesday after he took the video.

The clip was part of a post that included still photos showing the young woman writing on a public telephone booth with a green paint pen.

The clip also showed the man turn to smile and blow a kiss to the camera.

The woman was seen writing "WOAH" and "XAWI" inside and at the back of the public telephone booth.

The Facebook post has drawn more than 15,000 reactions and been shared over 4,600 times, receiving more than 360 comments.

Most Facebook users condemned the couple in the comments but others reprimanded Vorathep for not warning the couple to stop instead of shooting the clip.

This is Vandalism, They should not do this in other peoples country I wonder if they do it in their own country.

I hope they get detained at the airport when they try to leave.

Just goes to show you cannot do anything, from graffiti  to peeing on the

highway, there's sure to be someone nearby with a bloody smartphone,

which gets posted online, then millions of people say they are offended,

What they wrote does not make sense,it should have been

Freedom to the people,

Street art is not vandalism imho.

Street art gives life to all those sad plastic and concrete artifacts, and it brings happiness to people's eyes.

Those who can't appreciate street art are sad people imho..

Also, young people have a lot of energy, it seems to me a good way to let it out.

That said, they should be able to cancel their paintings if requested by the authorities, as it seems that the majority of people don't like them.

As for caning, jailing and deporting, one can just hope it's not said in a serious way :coffee1:

Please post your address so we can plaster some street art all over your place. Without the permission of the owner, it is vandalism, and writing WOAH and XAWI isn't my idea of art.

the strange thing is though that when we old farts have finally faded into history then this type of new age thinking will be the norm.

Actually, it sounds a bit like something Sir Richard Branston would say about always trying to see the good in someone.:cheesy:

It should be said in a serious way! For one it is a criminal offense...how would you like someone to express their artistic impulse on the side of your car?  And second they are visitors in another country.

If I was a billionaire I'd be able to live in secured compounds where guards would prevent anyone from vandalism and then I'd see the good in people too !

tbh it would not look good on the side of any car, but i like it on trains and concrete pillars.

I respect your point of view though, personally i would not do it.

Appalling - I guess they want to start trying to be famous like Banksy. But what they did is no worse than all the illegal advertising hoards on all over the country that everyone ignores and accepts because it is done by Thais.

If this is art; do you consider Punch and Judy a theatrical masterpiece?

Not in my opinion, where is the damage ?

I can concede that it's not a great example of street art, but that's it.

OK, prison and deportation for you too!  What for, what for...accompliceship! :whistling:Pfffffff

This behaviour should not be tolerated anywhere in the world.

The damage those idiots do to properties runs in the billions.

Writing "WOAH" on phone boxes isnt art, it is indeed vandalism .

I for one do not want to see some teenagers so called art work painted on the walls .

It doesnt bring life to anything , it just makes the area look like an inner city slum .

Why do these vandals think that everyone else wants to see their "artwork"?

Forcing people to see it

If I want to see their "artwork" , then they should put all their "artwork" in one place , like a gallery and if I want to see it, then I will go and see it .

Of course, calling it art is a bit of a stretch, but , honestly, with all the problems we have in this world, i can't understand why some people hate so much street artists.

No, i don't think that Punch etc is a masterpiece.

These kinds of stories are like crack to a lot of the forum posters on here, they can get outraged and call for birching, deportation and prison time - happy times for them.

Then again, how about birching and locking up the advertisements companies that subject us to their crap all over the place, especially the TVs all over the BTS
