Baseball Bat Attacker Surrenders After Violent Songkran Rampage in Korat

A man seen in viral footage wielding a baseball bat during a violent incident at a Songkran celebration in Seeng Sang district has surrendered to police, as new claims emerge suggesting he may have been provoked. The suspect, identified only as Mr F, 31, turned himself in to Pol. Col. Thuengporn Pantong, superintendent of Seeng Sang Police Station, after widespread public outrage over the shocking attack. Video clips circulated on social media showed the man, shirtless and wearing a yellow headscarf, attacking vehicles and striking a woman who was using her phone to record the scene. The violence took place during a festive gathering on “Khao Khua Road” and quickly spiralled into chaos. Initial reports indicated that the man smashed two vehicles, assaulted multiple individuals including women and children, and stole car keys before fleeing. Several victims suffered serious injuries, including a broken arm, head wounds requiring stitches, and heavy bruising. However, in a new twist, family members of the suspect claim he acted in self-defence. According to relatives, Mr F had been assaulted first by members of another group. They allege that the baseball bat used in the attack originally belonged to that group and was seized by Mr F during the scuffle. His mother told reporters that her family, including teenagers, adults, and children, had been attending Songkran festivities in town and were preparing to return home when the confrontation began. They had parked their vehicles along the roadside when tensions flared, ultimately erupting into violence. The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation. Police are currently reviewing security footage and witness statements to determine the exact sequence of events and whether charges will be filed against any other individuals. Authorities have called for calm and urged the public not to jump to conclusions while the investigation continues.
