A Bangkok road sweeper who illegally parked her motorcycle on the sidewalk will have to pay a 700 baht fine, said the chief of Bang Ken district station yesterday.

Comment was rife on Facebook after the story of the road sweeper hit social media - a ticket was left on her bike telling her to pay the fine at the station.

Station chief Amnat Intharasaworn said that 700 baht was the fine and she would have to pay up.

Besides, she should count herself lucky - the local authority itself were entitled to fine people 5,000 baht and remove the offending vehicle, said the chief.

Oohh look! New dual language fine book in use.

As to the issuing of the fine. Unfortunately this person is one of the lower paid folk who do the jobs no one else want to do, but it is a fair cop. Even the unwashed farang know it is illegal to park on the footpath, and as was pointed out by the police chief she should consider herself lucky that the bike was not impounded as is permitted by the current regulations.

Send them down my way, they could issue thousands of tickets on lower Sukhumvit in a couple of hours

And how many times do you see police bikes parked on the pavements while they sit around smoking and waiting for a tourist to drop a ciggy butt so they can fine them ?

On south road in Pattaya the police will encourage you to park on the footpath as it is illegal to park in the roadway on some days/times.

500bt for punching someone in the face or attacking with a a knife or whatever but 700bt for parking on the sidewalk,

amazing  Thailand
