New crackdown sees darts BANNED in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

This is really important action by Pattaya Plod, stopping these devious games, same as last year arresting those disgraceful Bridge players!! I hope these perpetrators feel the full force of Thai law!!

It's really important step in stopping these shocking activity occurring, meanwhile, the road toll soars, drug use is rampant, as is drug smuggling, illegal trade in under age females into prostitution, etc. but no!!...  plod concentrates on the really important issues!!
Guess they’ll crackdown on those disgusting golfers & bowlers activities next!!

LOL...TLOS...makes me smile every day. The bars had better hide their pool tables, cards and any other form of entertainment, and why did this not start in Phuket first? I am not sure that the Phuket police will be entirely happy about Pattaya taking the initiative on this one.

Do you have a license to make these statements lol

This news feed is all rubbish and not true it was only one bar and it is to do with not having a gaming licence. Not darts licence...

OMG! How long has it taken for the 'authorities' to realise that darts is as dangerous as playing bridge?

Incompetence personified. :coffee1: Thai 4.0 full of imbeciles.

The numskulls who dreamed up this newest crackdown, should be exiled, their passports confiscated, and they should never be allowed to return to Thailand. They are not deserving of the oxygen they consume. Just more nonsense, from one of the most comical, incompetent and do nothing administrations in the countries history.

Darts. A game so dangerous, so threatening, so devoid of social meaning, and purpose, that the benevolent leaders must deny us the ability to play. Nice work guys.

Little P. - Moving Thailand backwards at a breath taking, alarming, and astonishing pace.

Thanks spidermike007 for throwing your s**t to another country, you can keep them yourself. You only want to see the rest of the world come down to Thailands level. Save the world and stop exports of Thai officials immediately. Send them all to spidermike007.

Wow. Can't take a joke, huh? That was humor. I guess it fell on deaf ears. I have a suggestion. Lighten up.

It is not the police that did the raid it was the DOPA, (Department of Provincial Administration) who issue the entertainment licenses. This looks like a crackdown or revenue-raising ploy dreamed up by the local administration. The police are only there as enforcers

Might be better to have a list of things that we CAN do! (Ooops - hush my mouth!)

I have a dartboard at home. It was great for my children to develop their hand to eye coordination and mental arithmetic as I gave them a random number and they had to work out how to score that total with three darts.

So just classify the dartboards in bars as an educational resource instead of entertainment.

So    soon a license for pool, drinking any beverages, smoking and the purchasing of any tobacco products , lavatory needs , a meals license , a license to enable you to apply for a license.... Do they actually want to destroy all tourism in their country, Or are they just plonkers...talk

about the state trying to squeeze that last drop of blood from the rock

that really is there bread and butter..

I PREDICT   2 - 3 years and they'll get their wish of a 90% drop in tourists and a 90% drop in revenue ..

I suppose that's what happens when they let the monkeys run the ZOO.

Who said it doesn't exist ?

On another Pattaya forum they said it's an 1935 anti-gambling law who was no more enforced for decades, and it's not only for darts; pool tables & snookers are also concerned by this law.

That is logical and while they are at it why should quizzes be exempt.??

Bott, you should really read the OP and then you would realize that it is the establishment that needs the license, and these licenses are already in place to be able to sell alcohol, tobacco products, food, and other services and all these establishments require a license from the Provincial Administration, so it does not affect the tourist unless the establishment does not have a license or the establishment charges more to supply the tourist with the things for their entertainment.

It does not matter where you go in the world a shop must have a license to sell cigarettes, a hotel must have a license to sell alcohol, a restaurant must have a license to sell food, a casino must have a gaming and entertainment license to have gambling and floor shows and the list goes on. So why should Thailand be any different with its licensing?

This is clearly designed so that the punter will have  a lot more time on his hands , and  then  be will more than likely visit  massage parlours like  "Victorias". This will in turn  see that Police lending facilities are properly bouyant ...

And the stupidity continues unabated. Confiscating boards for not having a license that doesn't yet exist? Will someone in authority here, please grow a bloody brain?

But to confiscate an item because you do not have a licence for it when there is no such licence? Come on!

No but darts are clearly a game which Thais could bet on, just like pool. So it will be about gambling or charging money to play.

I don't know of a game that one couldn't gamble on..

All this license bla bla

So please let Thai people get a license to get babies because it seems young Thai people is out of control

There's really no need for a baby license. Perhaps a comprehensive adjustment license for starters?

Sorry tifino but some people will never learn or understand the principles of gambling.

I will bet 1 years of my pension that you will fly out of your bed when I put an aggressive King Cobra in your bed.

I will bet 2 years of my pension that you will not live when I get an elephant to stand on you

I will bet 3 years of my pension that you will end up in many pieces after I put you in the cage with a starving tiger

Do you want to change your statement about the animals or do you want to pay me what I have won
