THAILAND is often the first stop for Brits who fancy an exotic holiday – and also want to party hard.

 

The country’s relaxed attitude to alcohol has meant that the backpacking haven attracts droves of tourists who want to go on a bender, with tourism booming year-on-year.

 

In neighbouring Cambodia, British tourists are facing a year behind bars after performing alleged “pornographic dancing” at a pool party.

 

The five are part of a larger group of 10 arrested by police at a wild pool party where bikini-clad and shirtless tourists allegedly played a Twister-style "sex position game," at a rented villa in Siem Reap - near the Angkor Wat temples.

The reason I just lie about where I am based. If I say thailand most have no clue other than what they see in shiit media like this. HK does not have the same effect and usually cuts the conversation short.

Both Thailand and Cambodia welcome tourists, who all spend money and most of whom party quite hard while they are there. I do not expect that to change, either in the welcome or the alcohol intake, which is of course a hell of a lot cheaper in Cambodia than here. What the article does bring out is the fact that despite their rampant sex industries, both countries are quite prudish when it comes to nakedness. Remember the Thai singer admonished by the PM for thrusting her hips whilst on stage?

It would have been good for the article, discussing as it was, partying hard, to mention the draconian drug laws here, which see way too many people end up in jail for long periods or fleeced for massive sums of money to make it go away. Cambodia is a far better destination on that front given its slightly more relaxed attitude.

Regardless, people will continue to come here and party. Some can take it and some cant. I don't see Thailand banning Brits or anyone else while there is money to be made.

The party in Cambodia involved various nationalities but only the Brits get picked out. Harmless fun anyhow, behind closed doors, just another sting for money.

 

Plenty of other nationalities get pissed and do stupid things here also!

In general, I think you have to tip a hat to the tolerance of the Thais.  What they have put up with over the years.  I believe they will get good karma for all the steam they let people blow off there, that might have prevented a lot of bulk rate massacre types of workplace shootings.

There is less in Thailand than before.  Western drunks could be seen passed out all over Bangkok in the 90's.  Today, it is less common.  If policemen were to patrol the streets and ask them to behave, pretty sure they would.

Hahahahaha,,, have you ever been to Berlin?! I suspect not. Believe me when I say Germans are very liberal about sex, beer and enjoying themselves. Anyway, drunken displays in public are not pretty or appropriate most places but there are plenty of Nations that do this. Just some more trash reading from the Sun newspaper in the UK, nothing more.

I cannot say that I do this or have done this in the past - BUT I think Thailand should address their bigger problems first - 30 people a day don't get killed at foreigner 'parties' ! Can;t see them banning Thais driving though !

Well can you show us a video where the german girls behave like the britts? 

 

I've seen plenty of documentaties about Ibiza, Salou and the rest of the coast there and it's always the britts behaving the worst. The other ones also get drunk but still can behave better.

And that's not strange at all...

 

I see Thai driving against traffic every minute, parking on the roads everywhere, scamming people, wearing no helmets, sitting/hangin in overloaded bathbuses, driving drunk, driving on sidewalks, not using meters in taxi's and so on.....

 

So i can totally understand that Western teenagers think there's no law in Thailand and they can do whatever they want.
