Lampang police captain nabbed for taking bribe

A long-serving police captain in Lampang province has been relieved from police service after he was caught red-handed for taking bribes in exchange for dropping a case against a suspect.

 

Pol Maj-Gen Niyom Duangsri, commander of Lampang police, said he ordered the dismissal of Pol Cpt Kittikarn Yalangka, deputy inspector of Khelang Nakhon police, because he has tarnished the reputation of the police force and is a bad example for the other policemen.

 

A sting operation was hatched and carried out by police from the Counter Corruption Division, Lampang provincial police and officials from the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission to ensnare Pol Cpt Kittikarn after complaints from some suspects that the officer had demanded bribes in exchange for having their cases dropped.

This is police entrapment, the good captain would have not taken bribes if he wasn't

set up for it, Or not....... comon, who are we kidding?

Goes on every day across the country otherwise how the hell would a copper on naff wages survive?

He was probably a role model, up until he got caught.

He must be feeling fairly unluckeee, nailed for doing something that is standard practice.

Dismissed because he tarnished the reputation of the police.

Is that man for real?

The truth we all know, they 'earn' more money for not doing their job than ever they do for doing their job. 

A Thb 20K sting is almost traffic offence bribe size....so just a small fry that upset someone higher up....meanwhile ex cop boss gets a please explain for Thb 300mill of likely, ill gotten money...!

Thankfully such behavior is virtually unheard of and I'm quite sure the integrity of wonderful RTP will remain intact.

Will he be prosecuted? He did commit a crime, right?

Yes, he did set a bad example for other policemen, by getting caught.

Exactly! It was too small. It wasn´t enough money to do that. 

And Buddha said........Take only what is offered!  

 

It's fair to say that in Buddhism, greed is not good. Greed is one of the Three Poisons that lead to evil (akusala) and that bind us to suffering (dukkha). It also is one of the Five Hindrances to enlightenment.

Why is there such a seemingly large percentage of cops mentioned in these stories as Maj. Gen. which I take to be Major General. Where are all the everyday street cops? It's not as if they're all living pure sinless lives.

A large backhander to the Counter Corruption Division will soon sort out this little misunderstanding

Quality stuff.

Police arrest a person with a real charge or a fake charge, doesn't matter. That person may choose to pay a bribe to be let off, of this charge. Said person can then go free, police drop the charge and make money. Sometimes they only drop the charges for awhile and later the person gets another phone call to come to the station! They may go to prison this time for nothing! This is a vicious circle and the honest people of this country suffer. It's time to really do something about the obvious criminals of this place.
