Video: Irate house owner takes axe to illegally parked car - but there's a backstory

A video posted to Facebook showed a furious woman house owner use an axe and a shovel to bash a pick-up blocking her driveway.

After sounding a horn for several minutes she was filmed for about six minutes circling the pick-up hitting the hood and the side window causing considerable damage.

Sanook reported that after the video finished the car owner came back and apologized but was still subjected to a mouthful of further abuse.

Comment fell into supporters of the car driver and supporters of the house owner as the story was shared from Khao Den Clip Dang 14,000 times.

However, there was a back story. A trader told the news media that previously the father of the house owner had died after he fell into a coma and could not be taken to hospital in time as someone was blocking the driveway.

The house owner had thereafter gone to a court and erected a large sign forbidding parking.

The house is in the area of a large market where many people want to park on Saturdays and Sundays.

It's easy to understand why the homeowner was so angry.

what an inconsiderate <deleted>, i suppose there is a law about obstruction, that would be obstructing a persons right of way in my book, 100,00 baht fine and a year in prison, (or was that to do with smoking ) ? lol

I do have quite a bit of sympathy for the lady even if the reaction was a bit OTT. A very sharp knife in two tyres would have been a better solution, one front, one rear would have worked even better. Then insurance doesn't cover it. ?

Done on the QT then watch the effort to get it fixed.

Insurance would pay so that punishes everyone who pays for car insurance.

Luckily, pickups are cheap

The lady wanted to get out of her driveway so if you deflate the tyres or set fire to the car then you are trapped in your driveway for longer

Out of several million vehicles on the roads it would be a fraction of a baht per person even if that pickup was brand new, which it does not look to be

Worth it for the entertainment.

"a robust, efficient, and incorruptible judiciary system." Where might that be?

The only sad thing is that these people can reproduce.

Too many lazy people here who want to take most convenient way. At least he could have left the gear in neutral.

If you do that and it rolls forward or backward into another vehicle  you will have to pay for that....

Only in attended carparks would I leave it in neutral.... But I don't park blocking anyones driveway either

Not defending the vehicle operator, but she was definitely OTT and she should pay for the damage. Not enough tow truck services in Thailand. These would get this "park anywhere" mentality corrected. She should have been able to "dial-a-tow" and gotten it towed as supported by law. Any entrepreneurs out there?

Never lose your temper in thailand. Always stay cool and smile. Jai yen. Dont show emotions. Be compassionate. The Buddhist approach. Etc etc.

Oops! Welcome to reality ?

A smarter method is to cut rhe rubber valve stem on the tyre, which deflates just as effectively without causing expensive damage which you may end up paying for.

Great idea... Then she would be blocked in even longer !!!

A bit like Crocodile Dundee and his amazing buffalo taming scene, still had to get past it...

The guy shouldn't have parked there, just rude...

But even parking legally, on the side of the road here, you risk retribution from irate shop owners who seem to think the road belongs to them !!

It's all fun n games in the land of smiles :)

Only if her car is in the drive way at the time.

It was, hence the anger :)

Plus no story at all if she wasn't blocked in...

That is what we call wishful thinking over here. :cheesy: Here they just get happy because it´s easier to see the middle of the road.

I had same problem.

I would just let the air out of a couple of tires.

Never had to do it to the same vehicle twice.

Never lacked for illegal parkers either. Always new ones to block my drive.

Then I moved.

Can still move it with flat tyres though.
