PHUKET: -- A bus carrying 10 Chinese tourists crashed into an power pole on Chao Fa Tawan Tok Rd southbound close to the Darasamut Underpass yesterday night, with the accident blamed on a slippery road due to rain.

Capt Charus Lemparn of the Wichit Traffic Police confirmed to The Phuket News today (Feb 20), “A bus crashed into a power pole on Chao Fa Tawan Tok Rd southbound in front of Wichitsongkram School, and close to the Darasamut Underpass, at 7 pm yesterday (Feb 19).

“It had just rained and the road was slippery, this is what caused the accident,” he said.

That pesky rain again!

Can't blame the driver if the weather is just going to throw water on the road willy nilly.

How about the driver at the appropriate road speed for the weather conditions ... oh wait .... need to get the pax back to hotel for dinner time.

"...with the accident blamed on a bus driver who was driving too fast for current road conditions on a slippery road due to rain."

Second sentence I had to fix today.

also the tires were perhaps completely bald?

Yes, and if not on time the driver will be punished.

The real culprits here are the operators, who have their drivers on impossibly tight schedules, forcing them to drive way, way too fast.

And inflated to 90psi “ make better for gas and faster”. This gets monotonous doesn’t it?.

You're going to tell me that speeding had nothing to do with it.   Thailand will never get out of being #1 or #2 in death on the roads.

They really don't seem to mind.

Always those dam.. power-poles, they should put those power lines underground asap.

Any excuse other than the moron driving. Guess it escaped their diagnosis of the situation that the driver could have slowed down and driven according to the conditions. Pfft.

The tyres might be worth a look too!

How can you install responsibility into these Monkies when even 'Capt' lets him off and blames the wet conditions???

Another day, another crash of a tour bus carrying Chinese. Chinese people bring very bad joss to Thailand buses.

Whew!  their Strike rate, over the last couple of days had been drooping down to dangerous unsustainable levels...

-  but this will restore things back to normal

An auto body repair shop with the space or work bays to work on buses might be a real good business in Phuket.

poor driving and no maintenance next. Can we also.pollutiin test the vehicle. Next
