Nazi items for sale next to Royal Garden Plaza

I find this disgusting , and I took this picture just to show what's going on next to the entrance of Royal Garden Plaza on beach road. This is a new stand and the girl selling all this fake Nazi stuff is happy to give tourists a good deal.

So I was curious , who buy all this nazi stuff? Well , after observing for a while , the girl was approached by eastern europeans, younger guys. Most other people just went by and shook their heads.

counterfeit items are, but seldom enforced

So there are brand name Swastika flags and Hitler photos?

I doubt there is any expectation that such an operation on a Thai street is selling actual historical items, even if they are saying they are.

Probably made in China.

Should be pretty easy to get those items/stalls removed I guess... As it hurts Pattayas reputation and so on....  :partytime2:

Good joke.

Sometimes that happens though.

Years ago it wasn't uncommon to see explicit kiddie porn being openly sold on Beach road. That did eventually end. But not sure if that was about enforcement or that very few people buy DVD videos of anything anymore!

She probably is not aware of the horrors perpetrated by the Nazis in general, and in the death camps in particular.

"lest we forget."

(WARNING! One very graphic image.)

Perhaps someone could show the vendor some photographic evidence?

She wouldn't care of course.

But maybe there are games people could play at that booth to nudge her a little bit.

Maybe haggle with her for an hour over a Hitler photo and then walk away.

I think that all porno DVD's were banned a few years ago

They will sell anything,  even there grandmother  for a profit in Thailand.

They care not,   most won't even know what a Nazi swastika was about,

as Thailand was and still is,   the center of the known universe for them.

Frog and coconut shell syndrome. :stoner:

I seriously doubt it.

Doubt what you will. This isn't one of the  market stalls with Nazi scarfs among other stuff. As for their ability to affect such things, you'll be surprised. From the embassy's point of view, this promotes a negative image of Germany in a major tourist spot.

If that doesn't work, one can always ring up Bomber Command.

Yes, I started a thread about the same type of thing recently.

I never hung around long enough to see who buys that garbage.

Presumably, they are selling some of it or they wouldn't stay in business.

Unacceptable, and all about education, but can I make just a minute observation? Swastika is Hindu and the word swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being." Not Buddhist as you describe.

So have you sent the link yet?

Why would it be gone?  Who cares what the German embassy thinks about a Pattaya vendor doing nothing illegal?

Because "legal" or "illegal" are not key words in how things are done in Thailand. I would suggest that authorities are rather more receptive to requests from embassies than you may assume. But guess you already knew all that anyway.

I'm not sure that they are but if you say so it's probably true!

It's not illegal to have Buddha image in 'inappropriate' place in western country but Thailand makes a big fuss of it and get things done anyway

If enough people complain to Royal Garden's management they'll probably remove it, but best get embassies involved
