A video online showed an entertainment from Kamphaeng Phet at Songkran in which a singer played a monk.

Complete with fake bald head and begging bowl he receives what appears to be alcohol into his bowl and shares it with the scantily clad dancing girls cavorting to the melody.

The music is that of Jazz 4G and features lyrics related to temples and monks.

Thai Rath said that netizens were aghast at the inappropriateness and lack of appreciation and respect for Thai culture.

But everyone seems to be having a great time at what was said to be an ordination party in Ban Makork Wan, Thep Nakorn sub district of the northern Thai province.

Half a million Thais viewed the clip online that was shared thousands of times.

Footage was shared to the site of Hong Phak Raiwan Soi Udom Suk 51.

Thai Rath said in their headline that it was "Cosplay in Robes".

Not to take anything away from Thai culture, but I wish the good netizens would get righteously angry about some of the things that are actually important, like the road carnage or the never actually arriving elections.

Thai people should read the news, but they don't why should they: Then they would know there is nothing sacred about monks: drugs, alcohol, gambling, F*cking around with women, men, boys and girl and also embezzlement of money just to name some.

Monks certainly aren't. According to many press reports, they are either scammers or running temples as a business.

I think they're confusing religion with Thai culture. The two are entirely separate.

Right, shut bee like that!

"Is nothing sacred?"

Obviously not, hence the requirement for a musical performance (among other varieties of entertainment) satirising its slide into hypocrisy and corruption.

"daaek dan"  (to ridicule; satirize; satire).

Had a show a my school and one of the head guys dressed as a monk in 'comedy' skit. The kids loved it. This is just tired old nonsense from conservative religious nutters. Happens all the time just look at all the crap on tv.

The dean monk in Ayutthaya province has called for legal action against a musical band performing show with its musicians dressed in Buddhist monk ropes.

The show was an insult to the religion and hurt the feeling of most Buddhists, said the dean monk Phra Khru Anukulsasanakij, also abbot of Salapoon Woraviharn temple in Ayutthaya province.

His call came as a video clip of  the heart-pounding    musical performance of a  band, TomDee Music, at an ordination ceremony in  province, was posted and went viral on the Internet.

Aren't monks just imitating holy people? It's all a scam from where I sit.

I just belly laugh when I read stories of western men becoming monks in Thailand. They are truly the blindest of the blind.
