Video: Heavy rains lash Chiang Mai - Mae Jo Uni roads inundated

A video posted to Facebook showed the effect of heavy rains on an outbound road at Mae Jo University in Chiang Mai.

 

The poster - Aekkapon Poungthong - said that the old road to San Sai was impassable to small vehicles. He thanked a man who helped him with his own motorcycle for lifting it to more shallow water.

 

People were pictured wading in knee deep water that gobbled up all motorbikes.

 

Thai Rath reported that 70% of the north of Thailand was hit by heavy rain with overnight temperatures a cool 22 to 25 C.

It seems people have fun there walking in that water, do they know the dangers?

I suppose this put a damper on the burning.

Big holes would be the least of my worries. Stray power cables would be my biggest worry.

Thai kids love to play in the flood waters.

 

It is just part of their culture. Like growing up on a scooter from the the time they are born.

At last some substantial rain in the Hang Dong area and the aircon off so far no flooding and some breathable air.

I'm not that far from San Sai, but where I'm at, we've had no flooding at all, and only moderate rain for the most part. 

Pretty heavy rain last night here in Wichianburi [phetchabun province] have had rain most nights,late afternoon for about a week now,maybe an early start to the wet season.

Nah, they will just extend the burning season to cater for missed opportunities.

I'm due for a visit there but don't wanna be stuck if its pissing down rain all day

Not to mention the snakes and rats the size of cats!  Can't wait until someone reports being bitten by a passing bull shark
