The Crown... the drama about the Royal family  sees them smoking like chimneys   and dieing... great drama great series

Another good one but definitely not for everyone.

Has any Brit comedy surpassed this in the past 30 years, last I can think of is Faulty Towers? Not same style of course but Detectorists is another classic, up there with the best ever.

Has any Brit comedy surpassed this in the past 30 years? Plenty. The Office, Men Behaving Badly, Nighty Night, Catastrophe, Miranda, and probably a lot more I can't think of now. I enjoy the Detectorists, but I find it mildly amusing, hardly the best in 30years. Oops, I forgot Peep Show and Ideal.

i tried this , but honestly thought it was not up to much ,a friend of mine liked it and told me about it , shame ,

Has any Brit comedy surpassed this in the past 30 years? Plenty. The Office, Men Behaving Badly, Nighty Night, Catastrophe, Miranda, and probably a lot more I can't think of now. I enjoy the Detectorists, but I find it mildly amusing, hardly the best in 30years. Oops, I forgot Peep Show and Ideal.

Yeah, it's not for everyone like I said.

I think the old timey family stuff will grate on some people (me too) but I really enjoy the character thing about a respectable lady with a seemingly perfect life growing to be some kind of lady Lenny Bruce.

Also it's definitely not a documentary. It's a fun fantasy kind of thing, as in fun for some.

Finishing the binge of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel I now think it's even better than I first thought and for more people than I first thought. It's seems slated to win many awards and is being called the best thing ever out of Amazon. Future seasons coming ...

Just finished Godless.the best series for a long time.when i first saw it advertized as a town with only women my first thought was more PC rubbish.boy was i wrong

That has a high rating but I did not like it at all. Worthington just did not fit that role IMO.

Hmm... Maybe I didn't give it enough time. After some of the fantastic cop TV series over the years, I think I've become too quick to judge them these days. P'raps I'll try it again.

Was it as bad as the tralier? Or if it's worse than Mother I'm skipping it, that was the worst movie I've seen this year

Godless 'twas good... as is Alias Grace which we've just finished.

 

Detectorists is to be viewed... but fancy giving Taboo with Tom Hardy in a hat a go first.

 

Oh, get ready... tomorrow Jean-Claude Van Johnson is out - yes, a Van Damme series... meant to be very tongue in cheek, a bit like JCVD if you saw that movie - should be worth a look.

 

Couldn't see that link about deeply disturbing movies to watch once... but, I did watch Audition (1999) many years ago and yup, d@mn that is quite a movie.
