Mind you, it's often not so good watching a remake (2016). The only name I recognise is Gregor Fisher (The Baldy Man).

The 1949 version had James Robertson Justice, Gordon Jackson, Basil Radford. I'm just an old git though, enjoying watching those old names. I kept expecting to see John Laurie in it, but he wasn't.

 

I watched Whisky Galore (2016). It followed the original film pretty closely and it was OK. I watched Whisky Galore! (1949) again, I still think that has the edge.

I notice it was from the book written by Compton Mackenzie, who also wrote Monarch of The Glen. He made a cameo appearance in the 1949 film.
