Best Men’s Barber in Chiang Mai?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I got a haircut yesterday at THE CUTLER on the edge of the Old City.  It’s an amazing place.  Very old-fashioned barber that is meticulous about haircuts.  No quickie buzz cut.  You’re in the chair for almost an hour.  These guys are truly artists when it comes to cutting hair.  And the price is only 300 baht which is pretty inexpensive for what they do.  The atmosphere is very cool.  His clientele is equally Thai and Ferang, and they know how to cut for both.  Really nice guys too, very fluent in English.  I love this place; you will to!

Here i thought the headline was a question, it did end with a ?

But no.  This is an advert.  And a very expensive haircut too.

This is NOT an advert!  That’s really unfair for you to assume that, and extremely rude to actually say that!

I’ve had haircuts here for under 100 baht and have not liked results.  300 baht is a fair price if you want an excellent haircut.

As for the “?” Mark, I posted that way so others might offer their own favorite places.

I started this thread because many Farang men seek out barbers who can do a “western” cut well, and that’s not so easy to find.

When I find something I like, I want to share it with others, and I’m passionate about.  Sorry if you misconstrue that as an advert.

He's just trying to be helpful because somebody helped him with info in the past, now he's returning the favour.

But I agree, it is expensive, I had my haircut for only 50 baht and it's quite good.

Haircuts are a pretty subjective thing.  I was in Jomtien and got a 100 baht haircut that was fine, but I've gotten some here in Chiang Mai for 100 baht that were horrible until my hair grew out a bit.  I don't mind spending 300 baht if I know I will definitely get a nice haircut, plus I just really get off on the relaxing "atmosphere" of the place, the hot, scented towel they put on your face as they take extra time for the finishing touches, and just the nice vibe of the place.  If that's considered extravagant, that's ok with me ?

And yeah, you guys helped me big-time with all my questions and concerns about dealing with Promenada.  Nothing wrong with returning the favor.  I mean, that's what this forum is all about...sharing information that might be useful to others in a friendly way.

I get most of my haircuts at The Cutler. X is awesome and very friendly. Very cool. Love that place.

The other day I tried New York Salon which is closer to me. They did an excellent job as well. Was around 500 baht there.

Oops.  Sorry if i offended, da. But i know so very few men who pay like the ladies for hair styling that i was taken aback by your comments.  One hour in the chair, hot towels for your brow, sure a happy ending all around.

I guess 'The Donald' pays big for a hair style, maybe Johnny Depp, but in Thailand i thought the game was 'who cares'. Need proof: check out the various body tattoos found on many farang, male and female.  That is proof positive that no one in T'land cares if you are ugly beyond belief or made up like a doll.

And, a recommendation; lighten up.  No one really takes this stuff seriously.

Did you find it on Grab or did you need help again with basic directions?

Your sarcasm is getting  old, dude.  Give it a rest.

What is the big deal, man?  I like having a good haircut.  Take a chill pill and calm down.

Free, my DIL cuts my hair and her husband's hair (my son) using the buzzer with size fitting on the front, she does it carefully to ensure it's all balanced etc. Nice result.

Her real reward, I make a big pot of spaghetti which she loves.

Unfortunately, most people in this forum are rude because they didn't have good upbringing by their parents/teachers when they were young .

So don't expect a friendly forum here. Only a few are friendly and helpful like NancyL. I will give info based on my experience and try to help others free of charge.

When I first came and seek info, there are actually foreigners on tourist/student visa who charge people for info , in an organisation like 'befrienders'. LOL.

My wife cuts my hair, and her reward?  Being married to me!  Can't say fairer than that!

How is my remark "judgmental"?  The guy has made repeated sarcastic remarks to me on different threads that were inflammatory and personal in nature, and nothing whatsoever to do with the subject of the thread.

Trying to get clarification about immigration when half of the replies turned out to be incorrect or out-of-date information is "hand holding"?

And your last comment is so grammatically ambiguous, I don't even know what you are trying to say.

There are a lot of people on this forum that are friendly, nice people.  And then there are those you find on almost any forum who are mean-spirited and looking for any opportunity to flame somebody and pick a fight. It's obvious which category you and the other poster fall into.

That's OK though, I guess it's a source of entertainment for people with nothing better to do with their time.  I don't have time for such nonsense though so this is the last time I get baited into a reply from an obvious evil-uncle.

The biggest rip off in town is at the new Nimman mall near Maya.

Over 600 b for just a buzz cut I have passed by the place a dozen time never seen one customer.

I walked in and the guy had attitude no thanks.

Just a bad business concept good luck..

By the way, you can ignore some rude members here so that we don't have to read their nonsense.

Sorry I missed your reply until now but wanted to say thanks.  Truth is, I find MOST people on TVF to be quite friendly and helpful.

Any forum is going to have a fair share of "haters" who only seem to be able feel good about themselves by putting someone else down.  A forum is the perfect platform for them to do this simply because they can maintain anonymity.

So, this kind of stuff is just the price you pay to interact with others in such a setting.  I don't like when it happens but it's a fair price to pay considering the overall benefits.

As to the Cutler, I've used them for 3 years and they're great.Great guys, fun place and excellent service.

...You may now continue trolling.
