A taxi driver will appear in court after he attacked a Khao Takiab hotel receptionist at a rank on Saturday.

Sasiwimon Srikham suffered five stitches in head and mouth wounds after she was attacked while walking by the rank in Khao Takiab.

The police have let the taxi driver go after he admitted everything.

But Manager reported that he was the same man caught in a video clip threatening a Grab taxi driver for coming to Hua Hin to pick up passengers.

In addition the victim of the attack at the rank has now asked police to press defamation charges after she alleged that two women went on a TV show and lied about her.

Yesterday the victim and her attacker - 38 year old Jakkrit "Kong" Pheungjoh - met without reporters present at Hua Hin police station.

"Kong" has admitted everything and was let go but he will face a court date for intentional assault.

Manager said that the taxi driver had promised to police that he would commit no more harassment of the victim on Facebook. They also said he had promised to protect her in the future.

Sasiwimon said she was feeling better now both physically and mentally after hearing the driver's apology.

But she confirmed that she had spoken to police about the defamation charges against the two unnamed women who had gone on TV and caused damage to her reputation.

Is that really his job? The only thing he have to be is polite and accept the competition.
What´s next? Is he going to ask her to marry him?

So this taxi scum has threatened one person and attacked another but apologises and is let go to do it again but if you get caught selling one bottle of beer on one of the numerous bar closing days you are fined 10,000 baht and could face a jail term. This country is so f***ing backward

Hold on, there's a taxi rank in Takiab ?

I'd like to see a photo of both the licensed 'taxis' and the rank.

What these donkeys don't understand is that each time they hit the news with their despicable behaviour, it gives Uber/Grab even more positive publicity.

But the worst part of this story is that the police let the crook go.  Sad for Thailand....

Can someone (seriously) explain why he was let go a second time?

Is it because assault is not a serious crime in Thailand? would it be same in farangland?

Yeah, I wonder why they let him go the second time... is this standard in Thailand? maybe the requirement for holding someone is really high under law?

In most places assault causing grievous bodily injury attracts a mandatory custodial sentence.

Here the Police sympathize with the culprit. Seen as protecting his "earner" from ludricris APPs that offer the outrage of a ride without racist pricing schemes and Mafia tactics.

There are many countries in the world that end with "land", including England, Falkland, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, Scotland, Swaziland, Switzerland, and of course Thailand.  All told the number comes to 40+, but many are just islands and/or governed or administered by other or are in dispute between other countries.  However, neither I nor any of my friends or associates have heard or know of farangland.  Must be a very small place as nobody seems to know it and the name begins with a lower case character.  Just saying.

Western countries. Let's change my question to "would it be the same in the UK?" Would they let a guy go twice for assault in the UK? If so why? Is assault not a serious enough crime?
