Video: Put him in charge! Popular cop catches python with his bare hands.

news01.jpg

Thai social media widely shared a video and photographs that showed a popular Phitsanuloke police captain catching a three meter long python weighing 20 kilograms with his bare hands.

Moments before the video began local man Dech Srisawat had rushed into the Nakhorn Chum police station shouting wildly that a huge snake was swallowing chickens he raises behind his house.

Pol Capt Min Pansee calmly went along with another officer to show what the long arm of the law could accomplish.

As the camera rolled the brave cop grabbed the head of the serpent and got it ready for a sack and removal from the area.

No fuss, it was just all in a day's work for this cop who Sanook said is popular with both his superiors and the locals. A diligent and hard working officer that the locals trust, Captain Min has been put in charge of two sub-districts and is on call 24 hours a day.

Not one to hog the limelight the captain played down his heroics saying that the snake was full after gobbling several chickens and was thus resting and no match for a quick pair of decisive hands.

The story was widely shared across Thai social media after the event early Tuesday morning.

Yeah, right! That´s the best reason I´ve ever heard for putting a police officer in charge. Seriously?

As kannot says, they do have a lovely bite.

It may not kill you, but will rip your hand to shreds if it ever has a reason to get hold of it.

It would also be interesting to see someone take a 3 meter, 20kg snake from the wild and make that into a pet....................

Big difference between an animal raised in captivity to one raised in the wild.

seems fake to me . I have kept a few pythons up to 2 metres and when picked up suddenly the writhe around and coil and try to wrap around anything nearby. This one does not move and the camera does not show it moving on the ground and is mostly pointing away from the action. Probably stunned or dead already

I hear people in soi 6 shouting all the time.

Wanna see my pet python...lol

They're constrictors, and their bite can be very serious. Remember the guy who had a python latch onto his junk while he was in the restroom a year ago?

Quite a while ago now but when we lived in Chiang Mai a Python (that had been stealing ducks) of about the same size as this one attacked a young girl and ripped her leg to shreds as she tried desperately to get away.  Still it wasn't venomous so who cares!
